9 people were taken to the hospital; one is in critical condition
Police quickly shot and killed the suspect
A man intentionally drove over a curb and plowed into people at Ohio State University early Monday before getting out of his car and using a butcher knife to attack them, according to OSU police.
The attacker was shot and killed less than a minute later, OSU Police Chief Craig Stone said at a news conference.
Victim injuries include stab wounds and “injury by motor vehicle,” OSU Police spokesman Ben Johnson said. OSU initially issued an active-shooter alert when putting the campus on lockdown, but it is not clear if the suspect had a gun. It is also not clear if he acted alone.
One person is in critical condition and the rest are stable, Columbus Fire Department spokeswoman Rebecca Diehm told The Huffington Post. None of the injuries are life-threatening.
