2 weeks paternity leave. He took one week off and then took half days for the second week. He used the rest of his half days when DS was almost a year old...

As paternity leave? None. His coworkers got him out early those days (and I delivered in the hospital he works in, so everyone made sure he was out in time to bring me home). He also was there for my actual delivery... but once it was because they covered so he could get out early. He planned vacations a few weeks after my due date.
It's a joke actually at his workplace since I had 3 kids... he always says I'm going to have more and he's going to take paternity leave.
I think I remember your husband works in medicine... his group dynamic is important to consider. While it is possible to get an "emergency" leave, in a small group, someone has to cover for you. In my hubby's group, it is someone on vacation... so everyone saves it for extremes (the last two have been to go to see parent in hospital cross country, one has been for major surgery on a child). The last emergency case, 4 people split the person's shift (weekend day). Even though it would work maybe if your hubby had a corporate job, it is not the same in all fields. Maternity is a bit different in that it is a big chunk of time, it is expected and and often someone is hired to take care of that time.

He took at least a week and I am pretty sure he took longer cause I took forever to actually give birth to both my kids  then they ended up staying at the hospital for days

DH took 1 week off when DD was born and then a second week work from home.
DH lost his job 2 weeks ago, and DD2 will be here by the end of next week. He has a few potential leads but nothing that will start until January. So, he will be home with me this time for about a month.

Maybe 2 with our first? He owns his business so it is flexible, but my mom always came to stay for a few days, so by the time I had third and fourth he didn't take more than a day.

About 2 weeks, but we didn't have anyone else to help out and I Had a csection, so I needed him home to help with the baby and our 3 year old. I couldn't have managed by myself. But if I had had someone else to help I wouldn't have minded if he went back to work.

DH's company offers paternity time so he was off for 6 weeks. We adopted so 2 of those weeks were travel so he was home for 4 weeks.

How much time off did DH take when baby was born?
Can't remember with my first, but with the second, I think he took a full week - baby born on Monday and he went back the following Monday. But then when I went back to work, he took off another full week because my mother (who was watching the baby) wasn't home from Florida yet, so we needed to cover care for 3 weeks - he took one of them.

DS1 was born 2 weeks before Christmas. I think he worked a handful of full days and half days until the end of the year. He was able to take more time off because it was slow.
With DS2, he worked a bit when I was in the hospital and then he probably took about a week off once we came home.

He took 1.5- 2 weeks off for both kids depending what day of the week they were born on. He better take 2 weeks again with this next one coming in about a month. My older 2 have crazy schedules that I will need help with.

My first a week but I was in the hospital 3 of those days with a csec so he was only home 2 days.
My second he only took 3 days off so I only had him home for 1 day. He had a new job at the time and really couldn't take off.

DH got 2 weeks paid paternity. The first week had to be used the week our daughter was born--the 2nd week could be used whenever. He used the 2nd week when I went back to work at 13 weeks PP

#1 a month. it was way too long for the first baby. We sat around staring at eachother.
#2 a week
#3 a few days
With #2 & #3, i preferred that he take off work when i went back to work to help ease the transition. So he took off 2 weeks each time when I went back full time.

He took off a full week, with my DD it worked out to 10 days off because she was born on a Friday. My DS was suppose to be born on a Monday but my C-section got pushed back to Tuesday however, he still stayed home on that Monday.
