Best Disney Resort?

For the Disney lovers, what is your favorite Disney resort?

It's SUPER early, but I'd like to treat my parents to a 5 or 6 day Disney trip in Feb 2019 (I know, far away but I'm pregnant now so it can't be immediate PLUS I need to save up).

Our group would be two 70 year olds, me and my husband, a 4.5 year old and a 1.5 year old. For sanity purposes, I'd like to get my parents a separate room. I was thinking a Moderate hotel, but am worried about the bus situation and how long it would take to get to the different hotels.

Any advice? I'm also thinking I want to book through a Disney travel agent.

To be honest, you can't really go wrong with any of their resorts.

The value are resorts are cute and have adorable themes but they are very, VERY small. We stayed at Pop Century and the 4 of us just fit, my kids were 6 and 1.5 yrs old at the time. Between the pack n play and the double stroller it wasn't very spacious but hey, we saved money. Pop Century has its own buses and no stops anywhere else so that was a plus!!

For moderates, I am partial to Port Orleans Riverside. I LOVE it!! The resort grounds are just beautiful, the rooms are spacious and nicely decorated, and I just the love the overall feel of everything. We've stayed once before and we're going back again in May 2017, I can't wait!! This time we're doing the Royal Room!! POR has a few internal bus stops but honestly, I didn't really find it to be an issue. Buses cam regularly and we never waited long. We were in the Alligator Bayou section and not too far of a walk from the food and busing areas. It's a GREAT resort, you would love it!! We had gone with my parents that trip and we got adjoining rooms, it worked out perfectly!! Also, they have a really nice boat ride that takes you over to Disney Springs, it's very scenic and relaxing.

For deluxe resorts, I really love the Polynesian. I love the grounds and you're right on the monorail line too which is awesome! The rooms are big and spacious, the pools are nice, and you can be in Magic Kingdom in the the blink of an eye. Years ago when we were there we'd sit on the "beach" at night and watch the fireworks in MK and then watch the electric water parade in the lagoon. ALL of the deluxe resorts are awesome in their own way so again, you can't go wrong.

As far as booking, I've never used a Disney agent. I've always booked online myself though WDW. Make sure you book your trip before the 180 day mark so you have first dibs when making your dining reservations. Also, if you do book online make sure to always check back in for any special promotions. Even if you've already booked a trip and then Disney releases a special deal, they will apply it to your trip as long as your travel dates work with the current deal.

Wow, thank you so much for this thoughtful response. I'd love to book something soon...I saw that DW has a payment play structure so I figured I could do something like that so it didn't hit my pocket all at once. I have a coworker staying at Port Orleans Riverside in March. She's also doing the royal room. It looks so nice!

You won't be able to book yet for 2019........depending on when you plan to travel booking dates will open up for 2019 sometime in 2018. In the meantime you can start saving up for your trip on your own OR you can even go online and set up a Disney Vacation Account through Disney and start saving right away. Here is the link:

Disney Vacation Account

Once you book your trip online, you have until 30 days before your trip to make your final payment. You can log on to My Disney Experience anytime though the WDW website and make payments in any amount, as frequently as you want towards your vacation. You can even use gift cards to pay for some of your trip. If you go to Target and buy Disney Gift Cards they can be applied...............and if you use your Red Card you will get 5% off the gift card so that's just another savings that adds up here and there if you choose to pay that way.

When you book online through WDW they will require a small deposit and then again, you don't technically owe anything until 30 days before your trip. I believe I left a $300 deposit when I booked our most recent trip.

Once you're booked you can go to My Disney Experience and there you will be able to customize your Magic Bands, see your vacation countdown, check your trip balance, make ADR's, book your Fast Passes, add Memory Maker, and more!!! So much fun!!!

Happy planning!!...............SO exciting!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Best Disney Resort?

i've been over a dozen times LOL you really can't go wrong with any of the resorts Chat Icon Port Orleans French quarter is a really nice moderate hotel... its small, easy to get around, neat pool for the kids- with a newer kiddie water play area.... Wilderness lodge is also AMAZING! its a "Deluxe" hotel, but its the "cheapest" deluxe... so you can usually get a decent deal. its a quick boat ride to magic kingdom, which is great with little ones. again, small and easy to get around. neat water play area for the kids...
i don't think you book anything for 2019 right now. BUT what you could do is open up a Disney Savings account to start saving. you get a $20 disney gift card for every $1000 you take out of it to pay for your vacation. so it gives you a little bit of spending money Chat Icon

Thanks for this. I am staying at Port Orleans Riverside in April for the Dark SIde Half marathon. I don't ever stay on site but due to the timing of the race I really had to. A friend recommended this resort and I'm glad to hear others say good things.
