Goat or soy milk?
I slowly introduced cows milk to my 1 yo son (just put 1 oz to his formula) and he threw up from it. He had a bad reaction to cows milk.
He was on soy formula from birth.
Do I switch to soy milk? I just keep hearing about it being bad for boys. Someone mentioned goats milk.
Not sure what to do. Waiting for my Dr to call but was curious what others have done. TIA

Exactly! My dd pediatrician said we could skip milk all together- he recommended a vitamin d supplement- he also said to make sure she was getting enough fat and calcium in her diet- he said I could give her Tums for extra calcium if she was not getting enough from food.

Goat or soy milk?
Dd1 had an allergic reaction to cows milk at a year. I did give goats milk a shot but she wasn't having it. I then went to soy milk which she eventually took too. I know it's not the best due to the hormones but I was concerned about the transition from breastmilk ands her getting enough fat, protein, and calcium and at the time soy was the closest I could find to cows milk. After maybe 6 months I switched her to almond milk bc I no longer had so many concerns about her nutrition. I will add, my ped said as long as she got 2 servings of calcium a day no milk was necessary similar to what the pps stated.

Re: Goat or soy milk?
Almond, coconut or even hemp or rice milk before soy. I would only give soy if it were the only thing he could tolerate, and even then I'd give very little.
My little one has an autoimmune issue and can't digest many foods, so she drinks milk alternatives and eats extra avocado for fat :) Also takes some nutritional supplements on an irregular basis.
To touch on goats milk, if he tolerates it, its an option, but if it were me I'd go non-animal.

Agree with the others, animal milk is not necessary. I'd go with almond, coconut, hemp, or cashew, and stay away from soy. If you really want to go with an animal, goat is better than cow because their milk is closer in structure to human's milk than cow.

Goat or soy milk?
Ok so my Dr said to go with Soy milk. So my DH bought Silk brand with no GMO and 45% calcium.
Not sure what to do now after reading this thread. Ugh

I'm not saying to go against your doctor, but I'd strongly recommend doing some research, beyond what you're reading on here, about soy. If it's your only option, it is what it is. I've had to compromise some things due to my daughters disease, because the pros outweighed the cons. I don't know your doctor, obviously, but I do not a lot of doctors know very little about real nutrition.

Re: Goat or soy milk?
Our GI dr and nutritionist both recommended Non GMO organic Soymilk for our son in place of cows milk- we went with Soydream brand. No issues whatsoever though initially we tried Silk brand soy milk which was actually made on shared lines w/ dairy products and it gave him horrific diarrhea. Now he drinks either soy or cows milk when he feels like a milk product.

Re: Goat or soy milk?
Never soy, it mimics estrogen in the body. In a pure form like the beans it's okay tom time to time, but not as a daily thing. Go with coconut, or almond.

I read up on it and will skip soy. Thinking of trying goats first and see how he reacts. If he anything we'll switch to Almond.
