Well , my first ultrasound at 10 weeks, my lil beans heart rate was 173 (the nurse said it was because the heart was still very small and not fully developed yet

The next three times I heard the heartbeat , the rate was 150,150 and 145

Re: Baby's Heartbeat - beats per minute

I posted this before, this is my thought on heartbeat:

You get the heartrate read for about 30 seconds out of a 9 month period. When my babies were very active they were 160's all the way to 186! When they were sleeping and quiet they were in the 140's (and as low as 136 last week). So that's all that really is - a heartrate at that given point in time. If it was monitored for a week at a time and there was an average or something like that I could see it being more conclusive.

I have a strong boy/boy feeling but based on those HR's I would be having girl/girl - sorry no help here - I'll let you know when they're born in about 4 weeks! Chat Icon

The heart of a fetus will beat the fastest it will ever beat at 12 weeks after that it will slow till birth. 173 sounds about right.
