Photo framing/ Photo Art

Who do you use to frame photo art around your house?
I want to blow up and frame a few pictures from my daughter's holiday session.

I am looking to do one pretty big one for the living room and I was looking at the photo art options on Mpix, MInted, etc.
I am torn between a canvas warp, a metal print, or having them just print it and frame it.
But it all seems so expensive.

Is it better to just have them blow it up and print it for me then get it framed myself?

If so, where? I remember Michael's being a bit of a rip off in the past for framing.

I have no clue on this stuff.

Any advice?

Framing is sooooooo expensive. And that's for the plain ones. The fancier ones..insane!

I love the look of wrapped canvas.
I've never seen metal prints - sounds pretty cool

You're in Suffolk, right? I used to work in framing. Try Parthenon framing in Bohemia. I used to work w them a lot, family owned business. Very nice people.

But I'm honestly not sure they are even in business anymore, I've been out of the business for two years.

Look up Framebridge. It's a completely online service, but professional framing and significantly cheaper than anywhere else I've seen. I've had a few things framed through them and the process was very easy and everything has come out beautiful.

Did you mail them a print or use the digital photo option where you upload the picture you want framed and have them print it out and frame it?

Canvas on Demand...I usually find a Groupon type deal. I have several large canvases of my kids, and they look great.

For actual prints, I order on Mpix and put in Frames from Kohl's. They have a huge selection. Custom framing is a rip off IMO.

Re: Photo framing/ Photo Art

Wish this was posted earlier, I just blew $135 at a framing place yesterday on Rte 110 (Embroid Me) for 2 custom fitted frames for 2 canvas paintings (22x28 and 18x20). I pick them up in 2 weeks. I have 6 more paintings I want to frame (our wedding pic which I never got around to framing, plus some old art posters that l want to hang in our hallway).

I find AC Moore to be cheaper than Michael's. Still not cheap, but cheapER.

Did you mail them a print or use the digital photo option where you upload the picture you want framed and have them print it out and frame it?

I mailed the pictures in, since I had them printed and in cheap frames, but I wanted a better quality frame and professional matte.

Thanks! I wasn't sure how their quality of prints would be. I guess I will print via Mpix as I know their quality is good for prints

Our wedding pics were printed professionally by our photographer, but the newborn pics and family pics I framed were printed using MPIX and then mailed in.

I was happy with mine. I also got a 16x20. Obviously, the better the photo quality the better the metal print quality.

I'm not sure off the top of my head, it was a while ago. I'm thinking it was mpix. I'll check and let you know for sure.
