This old question... need a place to have a party...
We are planning a shower for a friend but do not have a ton of money to spend on it (especially if we want to get her nice gifts too!!)
I think it would be about 30-40 people , so too much for at our house.
I need ideas on how to keep the costs down.
What types of "different" showers have you heard of? Anything ideas appreciated!
This is a baby shower. Probably in Dec or January so would have to be indoor.
Thanks!!

I'm not sure where you are looking, but I have been to showers at the Snapper Inn in Oakdale, Sunset Harbour in Patchogue, and the Bellport Country Club. All three were very nice.

I don't know where you were looking but I went to one in bay shore at milk & sugar. It was done very nicely. They did a buffet brunch.
Sals in massapequa can accomodate that size party. They have delicious food that isn't crazy $$$ - we had my rehearsal dinner there.
Villa Monaco in west Islip on Montauk Hwy. Never been but a friend of my SIL had a party there and were happy with it.
Elisa's in east meadow is very good and reasonably priced
Shandon court in east Islip has a lot of packages available http://www.shandoncourt.com/shower-packages
Maybe do a firehouse hall? Rental fee isn't bad. And you can cater in or make food yourself (you and whoever is throwing the party with you. One does baked ziti, another chicken parm , etc etc. )Just need sternos and decorations. That's a way to keep costs down
