Norwegian or Royal Caribbean?

Which cruise line do you prefer and why, Norwegian or Royal Caribbean?

It would be a family fun vacation. 3 adults and 1 16 year old.

Thanks for your input.

Norwegian or Royal Caribbean?

I've never been on Royal Carribean, but I've been on Norwegian. I actually didn't like the "freestyle" cruising on Norwegian. I felt like the meals took too long. On a regular cruise, they know how many people are eating at each sitting, so it's more organized. Plus, the shows are timed so you go from dinner to the show and don't miss anything. I went on Carnival once and really liked it.

Re: Norwegian or Royal Caribbean?

Not sure how helpful the will be but we have been on both and enjoyed both cruises. We went on the Norwegian Gem and Explorer of the Seas (RCL). Basically that's comparing a small ship to quite a large ship. I think the entertainment on Royal Caribbean was better, food was comparable.

I have heard negative things about the Norwegian Breakaway, as far as the theater and other parts of the ship not having space to accommodate all guests.

If I were to plan a trip tomorrow, between the two I'd probably take Royal Caribbean.

I haven't sailed RCCL in quite a few years, but I have sailed the Breakaway. While overall we had a great time, This was not our favorite ship.

Re: Norwegian or Royal Caribbean?

I've only been on Royal, 6 cruises so far.
Have no complaints with them, we've always been a large group travelling. Never with kids though, we are all past that stage.

Norwegian or Royal Caribbean?

I have taken both numerous times. If you like the traditional way of cruising you will not like Norwegian. It is very casual and relaxed.

I have sailed both NCL and Royal many times. I like them both and my answer would really depend on what ships you are looking at. On Royal, the Allure, Oasis and Harmony would be my top choice of all lines. So much to do and so much fun. I really liked the Breakaway too.

You can't go wrong with either line.
