Not really a question, maybe a vent.. maybe a question? LOL about my dd sleep.
So dd turned 1 in September.
I have been on here asking about sleep before and here I am again.
I just don't even know if it's worth trying to "fix" because I don't know if it's fixable.
There is no rhyme or reason to her waking at night. Sometimes she does, sometimes she sleeps through. Same temperature every night. Same bedtime routine.
When she wakes, sometimes she puts herself back down, sometimes she doesn't.
Sometimes I can go in and get her back down, sometimes she's up for an hour or 2 before she falls back asleep.
We have a sleep routine that we follow every night. She loves it. Sometimes she's ready at 8, sometimes she fights us for another 30-60 minutes. Sometimes I think she's ready at 7.
What gives?! I told my hubby that she is such an awesome kid, for real, in every way... that this is just her "thing" that we have to deal with and that she'll grow out of it.
He thinks it's something that we can fix, but we don't know how.
Anyone...anyone?!

I personally just rolled with my DS's ever changing sleep. I look at it as we as adults do not have the exact same sleep pattern and sometimes we wake in the middle of the night...why would a child be any different. Adults are usually thinking about work, house, money etc. Babies brains are thinking about all the things they are learning.
My DS sleep patterns were always cray when he was learning something new...of course we never knew it til after the fact but looking back it was easy to see.

This is kind of how I feel. My dd is super smart, very technical and dexterous and constantly thinking and learning. I just think that she will sleep soundly some days and up and alert others and that's ok. I don't love it for US but it is what it is.

Re: Not really a question, maybe a vent.. maybe a question? LOL about my dd sleep.
As PP said... everyone is different and that's just how she'll be. I fall asleep so easily, but if something wakes me up I have such a hard time falling back to sleep sometimes. If I wake on my own then I can usually go back to sleep easily. DH has a really hard time falling asleep, but once he's asleep nothing can wake him. Our boys are pretty similar like us. It's tough at 1 bc you obviously can't reason with them. I will tell you it does get easier as they get older. My older DS was the same way as your DD. He is 7 now and a pretty good sleeper, but it took years. Not that you want to hear that, but you're going to have your good days and bad. Just do what you gotta do. If I had to put DS in my room at 2 and let him watch TV in the middle of the night so I can get an hour sleep then so be it. Like I said, now he's pretty good, but if he has something on his mind he will have a tough time falling asleep like his father. He's always thinking and planning. He's like that in school and does well so can't let it bother me. My younger DS who is 5 is sooo much better. He's a mix of me and DH bc he falls asleep so easily like me and once he's asleep nothing can wake him like DH. Good luck and try to get rest.

Pretty much this. Eventually they will sleep through the night on a consistent basis and it will be bliss. It happens in it's own time though

Thank you!
I am way more accepting of it than my dh. I have to talk to him.
But yes I have a very hard time falling asleep once I am up, this is what I try and explain to my dh. I think my girl is just like her momma!

What is her general routine like during the day? Nighttime sleep is affected by daytime sleep also. Better daytime sleep leads to more restful sleep. So on the days where your DD doesn't nap well, she might be waking at night. I would keep a log. I kept a log for a few weeks to try and see if a pattern was developing before I decided to sleep train.

Nope that doesn't matter either. Some days good naps lead to good nights and some days those naps lead to her staying up late. I'm telling you, no rhyme or reason!
She generally does nap well.
