saf-t-swim vs regular indoor pool?

dh and i are lifeguards and are wondering if it is worth paying for saf-t-swim. Is it worth it, or should we just teach dd ourselves and go to the town indoor pool?

Depends... I really love swim lessons for the kids.
IMO, they learn much better that way. Why not try a lesson out when your kid is of the right age (meaning at least 3... though I think 4 is better.... to avoid the mommy & me)?
My kids who bothe were swimming before lessons are MUCH stronger swimmers now and I think DS may be swim team material.

Re: saf-t-swim vs regular indoor pool?

I think it probably depends on the kid. I was a lifeguard/ certified swim instructor, and also worked at Saf-T-Swim and coached the swim team there. However, I COULD NOT teach my ds for anything. I taught him just enough to be dangerous in the water and have no fear. Jumps in, goes under, moves around, holds his breath, and waits for someone to get him. When it came to swimming back to the wall, he instead wanted to swim to Mommy, I felt bad pulling him off of me to do that... and then he wasn't trusting me and later thought it was all a game. Both DSs are at Saf-T-Swim, but if you want to get the most for your money, put them in in June and through the summer. They will give them some serious water safety techniques.
