Where does your toddler sleep when you travel?
Where does your toddler sleep when you travel?
My DS (2.5) currently sleeps in the pack and play when we go away. All summer, he was pretty good in it and wouldn't wake too much. Our last two trips (this month) were terrible. He woke up and refused to go back to sleep. Then we let him sleep with us, but he will not stay asleep while in bed with us and then has a million and one requests(I want water, I want my blanket/pillow, I want my blanket to be set up like this, I want mama milk, etc) We got NO sleep two weekends in a row.
So - where does your 2.5 sleep when you travel? We travel at least once a month so we need a different set up. I notice he is getting too big for the pnp so that's probably why he is waking up. If he just actually slept in bed with us, I would not have an issue, but he's not sleeping!

In bed with me. We get 2 Queens and DH takes one bed and I sleep with DS. He has a bed at home, though, so that may be why he'll sleep in the bed easily.

Dd does well in a bed or even a mattress in the floor. When we have to, she uses an air mattress or regalo cot but often doesn't sleep great on those.

If you are driving places I would get a inflatable mattress. When we visit my parent DS sleeps on one. We have a cot that we got for camping but he is starting to get to big for that. In hotels we get rooms with 2 beds and lots of times he sleeps with one of us.

We get a hotel room with two queen size beds. We take her bed railings off her bed at home and take them with us and then put them on the bed in the hotel room. She sleeps in one bed and me and dh in the other.

We're staying with family 99% of the time so getting a room with two beds is not an option.
I was trying to figure out if a cot or air mattress is a better idea. I guess with an air mattress, me or DH could sleep there and he can sleep with one of us. He is fine if he is with just one parent. (My sister's guest room has two twin beds and he sleeps well there in bed with me).

Re: Where does your toddler sleep when you travel?
Depends on where we are staying and who we are staying with. My mother invested in a nice crib mattress that fits inside a standard PNP. So DD sleeps in that when we go visit family. When we stay in a hotel she gets her own bed and sleeps fine in that.

Between the cot and air mattress, dd does better on the air mattress
