Walkway over the Hudson

Has anyone visited? Which entrance did you use? Looking for a hike with a dog too. Would like to spend up to 3 hours and not sure where to start.

We went a few years ago on the Poughkeepsie side. It's a lot of fun.

Did you want a separate hike from the Walkway? Unless you want to walk all the way across (we didn't but DD was only 3 or 4 at the time) I don't think you'll need that long.

There are lots of great places to hike in Dutchess and Putnam. This is a good resource: NYNJ Trail Conference

We went a few years ago but in the west side. It was nice and I remember there is a park but we didn't really venture anywhere except the walkway. Like pp said, there is so much great hiking in the area. We've done mohonk, minnewaska, an ice cave, a rock scramble, and in still mad dh did the watchtower without me lol.

We did it last year from the east side with our dog. It's a beautiful walk and they're very dog friendly. We didn't go beyond the walkway and the park right there though

Thanks everyone!

We parked on the street on the Poughkeepsie side. The walkway is only a mile across so we did the loop which is 4 miles. We also went into Franny Reese park on a marked trai. It was a beautiful day. There was a nice restaurant on the water with outdoor seating which i would try next time.
