I've always had a passion for makeup and I'm pretty good at it. Out of high school I wanted to go to beauty school but wasn't allowed to. I'm now entering a midlife crisis hate my job and want to do what I've always wanted. Question it's, if anyone knows, can you be licensed to just do make up and not go to school for hair and all that? All the programs I've looked into seem to be both hair and makeup

I think that meant possibly go to school after that! Lol
My brothers GF does make-up for friends and some others from time to time but I would think you need to get licensed to work in a salon, thats where you will uild your clientel!

yes, I would definitely get licensed, just wondering if you can get licensed for ONLY makeup or if it is all encompassing, and have to get licensed to do hair as well or can be licensed separately.
Also, thank you for translating my one clusterf^ck of an autocorrect sh!tstorm, LOL!

There is no licensing for makeup only. It depends what you want to do though, if you want to work at sephora or Mac you probablyy don't need to be licensed but any salon you would need to be licensed. There are actual makeup schools but I wouldn't want to spend all that money to not be licensed in anything. I just did the boces program last year and I have my license so !mk if you have any questions

Re: Cosmetology
Sadly there is no liscense for makeup with the state board It's crazy to me. I am a liscensed cosmetologist. U can go to MUDD or Mac schools for certifications but.....it's not necessary legally
