Bringing a baby to a baby shower
My bff's baby shower is coming up and she asked if DD (who is her goddaughter) could come with me. I'm very much in the "no kids at an adult event" camp so I told her no but then she said a few of her friends are bringing their kids and now I'm having second thoughts.
What do you think? Am I nuts?

Re: Bringing a baby to a baby shower
I took my daughter with me to a bunch of showers when she was little. I would bring her, especially if your friend specifically asked you to.

I don't see why you wouldn't. Baby showers in my family are more often not adult only events. I think it's up to the host so in this case I would definitely bring her.

She asked so I would be ok with bringing her. I am also if the school of certain events are adult only and I would never ask to bring my ds but since she asked.

Agreed. We're always kid friendly at baby showers. Bridal showers are another story and even then I opted to invite kids to mine.

Re: Bringing a baby to a baby shower
It depends on how you feel... could be a nice break not to have her But I've brought my kids to baby showers as babies and everyone is in baby mode so they tend to get passed around.

Re: Bringing a baby to a baby shower
My shower was this past weekend. We didnt have older kids there but anyone with babies were told they could bring them (we had 3 if I recall correctly).
I would say if she told you it was okay, bring her if you want to, but if you were hoping for a child-free afternoon and you don't feel like bringing her, then don't.

Re: Bringing a baby to a baby shower
I personally would prefer to leave baby home with DH so I could spend quality time with my friends.
My friends and I enjoy kid free time at baby showers and sprinkles. Same for birthday celebrations. Kind of an excuse to get a break.

I agree. With the kind of baby I had, I would not have been able to enjoy myself (nor would the other guests)
But if she is insisting and you don't mind, then by all means bring her.

This. But it depends on the kid
If you have the type that would play nice with other kids. Or sit and color why not
My kids are not like that lol. I could never bring them

Bringing a baby to a baby shower
When dd was a baby I bought her everywhere. At 3 I bring her nowhere. Neither she nor I have fun.

This is what I was thinking. If you think your child would be well-behaved, then go ahead and bring her. But if you have child care, you'll probably have a better time if you go alone, IMO. I love my children, but they require attention and energy when I'd rather be relaxing at a party.

Re: Bringing a baby to a baby shower
I brought DS to my friend's shower 2 weeks ago. I had no one to watch him and was a little wary if he would behave. But he had an awesome time. He was playing with all the women at my table and there were a few younger kids that he warmed up to and played with after an hour or so. I agree to bring her you think she'll behave and have a good time.
