Stay with friend. The kids can play together and when they go to bed the adults can hang out. It will help the friend emotionally.

I agree

I would get a hotel.
Regardless of the circumstance I am just not comfortable staying in someone's home.
I like my own space at the end of the day.
Even if I planned to spend all day and night with them, I'd want my own space to go back to and unwind, sleep, shower etc.

I agree with you 100%

Yes! I agree. When we travel (esp. with young kids now) I always feel its better to have our own space!

if it was any other time, I would def get a hotel but I feel in this particular situation I would stay because I think he might need the company.

Would you stay in a hotel in this situation?

If the tables were turned and this was my best friend...I would absolutely stay with her and would want the same if it was me. The kids will adjust and I say don't rent a car, the husband offered it, take it. He is probably very happy to have his friend coming and is welcoming the company and distraction for his girls.

I would think the friend wants company, and I would stay at the house.

Well, what does your DH want to do?

If he is comfortable staying; then he should. His friend I am sure could really use his friendship and companionship right now.

Otherwise, I really see no reason in staying in a hotel if his friend is insisting. It will be fun for the kids too.

DH was planning to stay in a hotel but now unsure.

When we were planning to visit them in the spring, we planned to stay at a hotel and the friend also insisted back then that we stay at their house. This was when his wife was still alive and going through treatments.

We ended up meeting up with them in AZ instead. It was the last time we saw our friend. Chat Icon

Would he have stayed in a hotel before your friend's wife got sick?
