Cheering/ gymnastic / irish dance for 4/5 year olds
If you have any places you like, preferably Nassau, please share. And where do the little kids do cheer? Do they actually cheer for games? I'm thinking more for next year or in the Spring, although I don't love DD's dance class now and I'm thinking of switching her to Irish dance.

Youth cheer is usually through the various leagues through the district, or community. They cheer for youth football. That doesn't usually take place in the spring though, only the fall.
All Star cheer is usually at a facility (like a huge gym), and runs all year. They don't cheer for a sport. They cheer at competitions as they get better. My DD used to attend Long Island Cheer at that age, she loved it! Too far from Nassau obviously though.

That's great!! We loved it there, but then she started Gymnastics and then ended up on team, and we couldn't do both. I said once she burns out from Gymnastics, she can go back to cheer lol

Where in Nassau? There are several good Irish dance schools. Do you want a designated studio or are you ok with someone who rents space in another studio? Do you want the option of competing later on or do you want to do it strictly for fun?

We're on the North Shore, but are looking to move to the south shore, so I'm open to location. Does it matter if they only rent space? I would like her to be able to compete if she likes it.

I just recently learned of Platinum Athletics. Not sure of the starting age, but they have a competitive cheer squad. They also do full and 1/2 year cheer programs. There is one starting in Dec and runs through June and they do local competitions. My daughter cheers for our town football team and her squad will be taking a cheer/tumbling class there in a few weeks.
ETA- my daughter started cheering when she started kindergarten. I know Hicksville, Bellmore/Merrick, Seaford, East Rockaway and Levittown have squads that cheer at the games for the teams. They cheer at games, both home and away. Some of these twons are also on the competition level.

My DD is 8 and in her third year of Irish Step. She LOVES it and started competing in Feis' this year. We're out in Suffolk though so I can't help you with schools but she dances at Mulvihill Lynch.

No, it doesn't matter. My DD's school has a main location and rents space at 3 other locations on the island so they can hold more class. At her last school, An Rince Mor, she also rented space and traveled around the island to teach.
ETA - If down the road she wants to compete you can sign up at EFeis.com which allows you to register for any upcoming Feis'.
