Scooter rental disney

We're going to Disney in February. My parents are coming with us and my father has mobility issues due to some discs in his spine making it painful to walk distances. He can get up and move and get on a bus etc, but can't walk a block without some pain.

We were going to rent a scooter for him. The options appear to be getting one in the park or getting one from a company. (similar to the stroller options)

We're staying in Animal Kingdom lodge and will be using Disney bus transport a lot.
How hard is it to transport the rented scooters on Disney transport?

I would think it would be helpful to get around the hotel, which is why I'd prefer to go with an outside vendor. I just don't want to find out that we need to wait for a long time for a Handicap transport that never comes.

I think all the buses are accessible but there is a limit to the number of scooters it can fit. And it takes a considerable amount of time to load and unload them. If he can manage the resort walking I would definitely try and just rent them at the parks.

My mom rented a motorized scooter from a company and had it delivered to our hotel room (Caribbean Beach).

IT WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

Had to report multiple buses for not letting us on, not moving people who were seated in the designated area. There is a sign on the bus, in the wheelchair area, clearly says--that says people MUST get up, the drivers refused to do so and left. The drivers do not give a shit about the scooters.

We were late to parks EVERY.SINGLE.DAY because of this... and this was in the end of January, so not a busy time at all. Missed our breakfast times everyday. We gave ourselves over an hour to get to the parks and still were late because of the buses.

I don't ever want to go back because of this.. I can't imagine having to do that during a busy time of year.

Thinking about this is making my blood boil. I was only in Disney for a few days and could not wait to leave. Ruined the entire trip.

How long ago was it?

it does seem like a hassle, I'm just afraid that my dad will have a lot of trouble going around the resort considering how big it is.
