Waiting room entertainment for almost 2yo?
Dd is 22 months and spends a decent amount of time in boring waiting rooms every week. I could really use suggestions on toys or activities that are portable and quiet to keep her entertained. So far I've been doing a few little people with chairs and a little car, small magnadoodle, lacing cards, magic ink books. Other ideas?

have you done the melissa and doug "water wow" books? those are fun, too.... or the melissa and doug reusable sticker books. they're big, but a lot of fun- they have ones with different "themes". Also- theres always some games on the iPad ( monkey preschool is one my son liked when he was younger)

Thank you. We have the water wow books and those sticker books but they're in rough shape. I should definitely hit up ac moore for new ones. Trying to avoid the tablet at this age.

Well, the best is if the waiting room has some toys because they love to play with "new" things. I bring things like a small ball, some small characters or little people, coloring book and crayons, books, ipad. When we leave the house, DD sometimes picks stuff to bring, usually a little bucket of random things. The toys don't distract for too long though and she usually ends up exploring the room, climbing in and out of chairs, etc. If we have a set time to go back, it's nice to just take a walk. Snacks really help too.

i find that just rotating the toys help - take some toys she likes at home, and hide them for a week. the following week stick them in your bag when you go and she will be happy
at around 2, ds loved shakers/maracas, stickers and crayons. its tough to entertain them. we ultimately gave in and got them tablets (dd got hers when she was almost 3, and ds was 1.5)
