American Girl Doll NYC
So we are giving in and getting our DD a doll for her 6th birthday and want to give her the experience. Would you go during the week (after noon early evening) and take the LIRR or go on a Saturday? I know either way I am screwed with the rush hour during the week and on Saturday having the store be hectic (unless I am wrong) what would you do? or any other suggestions?
Thank you!

Weekend. I wouldn't bring a child through penn during rush hour unless it was a dire emergency.

Re: American Girl Doll NYC
It's really busy there on the weekend, but during the week you might not have enough time, they close at like 7 I believe?
I would just do the Saturday and book the birthday lunch (it's super cute, and even it's just your family, they still bring a cake out, goodie bags, and birthday crowns for the girl and doll). It's only a few bucks more than just having lunch. You do need to reserve it though.
I would also book the personal shopper. It's FREE, and she will take you around the store, and you can pay in the personal shopper room and avoid the huge, long lines at the regular check out. Plus the personal shopper room is nice, with couches to relax, etc. I recommend Sharon Hinds, you can call her to book, or I can give you her email address. We used her for my daughter's birthday party at the store with her friends in April and she was great! Her party was on a Saturday and the store was busy, so it was nice to have the separate check out

Re: American Girl Doll NYC
We went on a Sunday this past Spring. Traffic was a breeze and we zipped into the city. If you are going to do the cafe, also book a personal shopper. They don't cost anything and you get your own room to view things. Also, when you get there, get on line to get a hair appointment for your doll if you plan to do that.

Will the personal shopper help with the hair appointment? Or do you have to do that separately?

Nope, you have to do that separately and pay for it at the hair counter
