If you child had this how long did it take to fully clear up?

My DS had an overnight fever two Mondays ago (8/29) followed by what I thought was a fever rash (first time mom!). About a week later, after two friends mentioned their daughters both had Coxsackie I suspected my DS likely had/ or has it too. The only night he seemed uncomfortable was when he had the fever but I still notice some bumps on his hands and feet, albeit much less. I just don't want to send him to nursery school if he is still contagious. I also didn't bring him right away to the doctor because by the time I put two and two together it looked like it was clearing up and beings it's viral just figured it would pass on its on. Wondering if I should now???

Both of my kids just had it a few weeks ago. Neither of them ever had a fever, but had the mouth sores and a few on their hands and feet. I'd say they were uncomfortable for 3-4 days, and it took a week or so for the sores/bumps to go away. I didn't take them to the doctor because they have had it before so i was 100% sure that it was coxsackie.

Maybe give your doc a call and ask about when it isn't contagious anymore. I'm not exactly sure.

I've heard different things. My ped said as long as the fever is gone they're not contagious but I've also read to wait until the sores are dried up. Dd didn't have a rash other than a sore in her mouth which only lasted 2-3 days.

Coxsackie - pls don't move

Dd1 had it a few weeks ago. Dr said she was no longer contagious once she stopped getting new blisters. She never had a fever. I know day cares won't let you back until all the blisters are gone (not from first hand expierence).

no joke 2++ months!!!

out of school for 2 full weeks. (he goes 3x a week)

then i got it. my nails are still messed up (3 mo later)

ETA-
Dr says once rash appears they are not contagious-2days
School says all blisters must heal over -2wk
the 2++ months was because the blisters still looked like bruises for a while and his nails were falling off.
daycare said this was one of the worst cases they saw

Dr thought he had it again but it went away overnight (bumps on hands & feet)

Daycare has had 3 separate outbreaks

coxsackie is the worst thing EVER!!!

Oy!!!!! Poor little guy and mama!

I really hope school doesn't make me keep him out. We literally just started and it's his first time being away. I'm trying to get him in a routine. I honestly didn't even notice the blisters, thought it all cleared up but his teachers did, she must see this stuff often. Obviously I don't want to infect anyone else, it just sucks he might miss an extended period of time from this. I emailed the director to see what's what. I guess I'll be prepared to keep him home for a few days.
