LET me clarify. I spoke to DELL they actually think I have an issues with software but Im not covered so I would have to pay. They are offering the following solutions to try and solve the prolem
As a part of your warranty entitlement, any repairs would only be limited to part replacement and or reinstallation of your operating system. You have to back up your data before the system is repaired by Dell by replacing parts if necessary.. Since there is no software contract available for the system , troubleshooting software issue on the phone will be paid support.
As a part of resolution we can offer you a reinstallation of the entire operating system either on the phone (again, you have to back up your data before doing so) If data backup is not possible it might be lost during the process of reinstallation of your OS. Or, we can send a preloaded hard disc which he technician will replace at your place and bring the current hard disk with him. The preloaded HD will have only the operating system loaded on it.
What is the operating system? if reinstalled what would that correct?
is it the same as Window 7 home premium program?
is it the same as Mircosoft word?

If this is popping up when you open your browser, it's a virus. I've had it a few times. You have to google to get the instructions to get rid of it. Do NOT call the number, and do NOT give out your CC info!! Scammers!

Operating System is your Windows version. Nothing to do with office.
They are suggesting to wipe your computer and start over because the virus is on your system. That is why they are suggesting you to backup your files. All of your applications would need to be reinstalled and files moved around to keep them. The issue with this is that the files that you backup may also have the virus on them, so if you restore them to the clean computer you may reinfect it.
How much do they want for this? Is it a flat fee or hourly? If it was a comparable price I'd have a local company do it instead of dell. They can handle the data backup, file cleaning, operating system reinstall, application install and put your files back on. From your questions I think you need a full solution instead of just dell coming in and doing 30% of the job.

I think its about $125 and up, I already saved everything onto my jump drive, and I had things saved on that as from prior use.
I don't know if its a virus, but I have issues if I log off.
When I go to log back on a message pops up saying, your resources are low and cant log on as a new user. BUT Im not logging on as a new user, so I am forced to hit switch, then hit the log in icon with my name on it
2 years ago I had to have someone do what you described above, it pisses me off if this happened again
I just want to vent an say. DELL does not know how to answer a question. Every email reply is a standard template reply, they are soo stupid, the worst workers

Do you have space on your hard drive? That really doesn't sound like a virus issue.
If it was me I'd make a new user, log on as that user and rename the profile of the user that is having issues. Sounds like maybe that profile is corrupted.
If you brought it to a local computer shop they would probably try to repair it before just wiping it out.

Ditto. Wiping the drive is the "easy way out". It makes their lives easier, but it makes your life harder. Many computer problems can be solved by fixing the problem, instead of just wiping everything and starting clean.
Very few car mechanics suggest getting a new engine every time you need new spark plugs....
