Food planning for trip
Im usually good at this but going to a new place and not sure what to do.
- 5 of us - 3 nights at a beach resort with kitchen that is stocked for cooking and eating. - A grocery store is 10 miles away. - There is one restaurant that is close and the rest are a mile or 2 away but heard there are long waits - one DD has celiac so GF option is a must - drive is 3-4 hours, 5 of us in a small SUV so not sure how much room there will be for groceries - worried about having to keep things cold on road
Would you just wait to shop? I feel like thats going to cut into our "fun" time.

Food planning for trip
I would bring some non perishables (if you have room) and then shop when you get there. It will cut into fun time but, it sounds like you don't have a lot of room for food (and I know when we go to the beach, even for just a few days, our Honda Pilot is completely packed).

Re: Food planning for trip
I would just plan out a few meals and shop once you get there and settled. We go camping in Montauk every year and the first year, we tried to bring things with us but it just added to the stress. We've just been setting up camp and then going to the grocery store after with some meals in mind (pasta night w/meatballs, bbq night, etc.).

We've done it both ways and I don't think either is bad as long as you don't drag everyone to the store. We've also done peapod which is an awesome option if there's a s&s nearby.

Re: Food planning for trip
We just did a similar trip. We took breakfast items, snacks and drinks. We ended up just eating out for lunch and dinner. Never made it to the grocery store. There were some long lines at the restaurants so one night we ordered take out and brought it back to the house. Ordered pizza for lunch one day.
