We had one with our parents and siblings for each kid. We got a few small things each time-$10 or less with the exception of my mil, but she spoils all of us.

Why would someone decline going to a gender reveal if they didn't have other plans?

I decline invites to some events when I don't have other plans. Sometimes my "non plans" are plans to sit around and binge watch Netflix. Sometimes it's going out shopping at the outlets. I don't like to be tied to plans that I really don't want to do.

Some things I get bored at (showers, especially) so unless it's for someone I am very close to, I decline. I imagine a gender reveal party would be boring to me as well.

I'm out of the house Mon-Fri from 8-7:30, so free time is precious. I'm picky about what events I attend on weekends because that's the time DH and I get errands or projects done, plus spend time playing music, going to the gym and enjoying our house and yard.

Gender Reveal - Do we need to bring a present?

I wouldn't even think bring a gift. My sister had one (I live far away so didn't go), but I'm pretty sure no one brought a gift. They just had a hero and cake and invited people over the day before. It wasn't a big to do though. My brother also had one, but no one brought gifts.

Because to someone who doesn't have kids, doesn't want kids, or isn't extremely close with the person having a kid it's probably not such a good time. Hell, I have a kid and unless it was my bff (who didn't have one) I'd probably skip it.

ETA: OP, I'd bring something small like a book or something for the mom.

ITA with the above and I have two kids under 5.

Re: Gender Reveal - Do we need to bring a present?

Idk.

I would assume anyone invited to one would be someone pretty close to

And even if I had no kids (have been to many before I had kids) didn't want kids(wouldn't affect my decision) If it was someone I was close to and happy for them

Even if it was not my thing. I would be there For them. Not for me. Jmo

This is how I think also. Then again, I love parties, so I get super excited anytime I get invited to a party lol

Same.
I can't stand going to most things like this either. I HATE sitting around and making small talk so i end up binge eating or drinking too much out of sheer boredom.
Plus, my time is precious.
Just because you are invited to something doesn't mean you have to go.
