Where to go in New England last minute?
We had a trip to Ogunquit planned for August 14 to 21. We had reservations at the Beachmere Inn. We stayed there last year and loved it. Long story short, my mom was recently diagnosed with Lung Cancer and we thought she would be having surgery soon. So we cancelled our reservation to avoid paying a large cancellation fee. Turns she will be starting chemotherapy first. Before she starts chemo, we'd like to go on a vacation.
The Beachmere Inn is all booked up now. We are open to anywhere in the New England area. Obviously we are partial to Maine. We have a 2 year old DS.
Any recommendations of what do and where to stay appreciated. I know a lot of popular places may be booked up but you never know.

Re: Where to go in New England last minute?
I've been to Kennebunkport without kids and it's lovely but I am not sure how much there is for kids to do other than the beach.
We stayed at a really charming B&B but I am not sure if they allow kids. I think it was called the 1802 House.
When my DS was 2 my mom, DS and I did Boston. There is a ton of stuff for kids to do there. We did the New England Aquarium, walked around near Harvard (there was a Curious George store there) and stopped at this incredible coffee shop for dessert. At the time there was this little street fair with rides so we did that as well. We didn't go in August but I'm sure something else will be going on.
I'd consider Boston because I'm sure you'll find a place to stay with no problem and you can always do a day trip to the ocean or something.

Maybe cape cod? We are taking my DS to Edaville and cape code seemed nearby so we were looking to maybe hit up a beach there.

If you go to Cape Cod, the Cape Codder resort just opened an indoor waterpark. Looks cute

We went to Boston early last year, my daughter was 7 and it's very kid friendly. We stayed at the Marriott Long Wharf which was directly across from the aquarium, where we had a great time. It's in walking distance of Quincy Market. There is also a Children's Museum which we didn't visit because it seemed more for very young kids around the age of your child, but it looked nice. There is also a science museum which we enjoyed, though I am not sure how interesting it would be for a two year old.

Boston is always fun.
If you have a week, would you consider going to bar harbor/Acadia? I loved it there. We did 4 days there, and then stayed two nights at the samoset resort on the way back.
