Once again we are dealing with this annoying virus. DS had it years ago and it lasyed about 6-8 weeks. I know we were licky amd it can last longer. Well, now DD has it and some of the bumps are itchy and she's uncomfortable. What can i do for her? Anything? We haven't gone to the dr because i already know what it is. The last time there was nothing they could do for DS. I was told to put hydrocortisone cream on it if it itched and that doesn't seem to help for long. Any at home treatments anyone has tried that works? TIA!!

My friend's daughter had it and swears by Apple Cider Vinegar. Get the organic kind, Bragg's is a good brand. Dab it on, burns for a minute (I've used it on my psoriasis, cuts, blisters, etc.)

I don't have a home remedy but my dd has it and The dermatologist can treat it as long as it isn't in a sensitive area so it couldn't hurt to try

Thanks ladies! I'm going to try the ACV and if it doesn't seem to help i will definitely take her to a derm. Right nownthere are a few on the top of her hand, a few on each arm and one on each leg. What does the derm do to treat it?

Dd screamed that the acv hurt. We started adding tea tree oil to baths and it cleared up quickly after months of no improvement.

Re: If your child has/had Molloscum

my son had this and it lasted a year!!!!

We took him to the dermotologist multiple times..

first time he treated it with a "bettle juice" which didn't do much

second time he was given an a cream..we would dab it on the spots with a q-tip but honestly that didnt really help much either.

I just made sure to for the most part always keep the area with the molloscum covered (he had them on his legs)..and made sure he didnt use the same towels as anyone else in the family so it didn't spread to anyone else.

And thats all we can do. It ran its course. It took a year but eventually all cleared up.

Pretty much the same but ours lasted 15 months.

We went to the derm and they prescribed Retin-A which hurt him.

We had the beetlejuice as well but, it didn't do much.

I tried tea tree oil and ACV - it helped it not spread but, it didn't clear it up.

Zyma Derm and Emuaid helped provide him relief from the itching.

DS was really sick about 15 months in so I wasn't really treating it. It spread pretty much everywhere. Then one day, it all scabbed over and that was the end of it.

Good luck - it's really annoying. We did the separate towels and everything as well. And didn't let him take a bath with his brother. We also tried to do showers instead of baths which made it better.

One of my friends DD's still has it in spots and it's 2 years in.

Aldara cream, prescription from dermatologist. It doesn't hurt and clears the rash up without leaving a mark.

I'm pretty sure my son got them from a wrestling tournament. My Ped recommended to cover them with duct tape (yes..duct tape) and pull it off. Then, soak in a bath with some Clorox and use a loofah to remove anything left. I was flabbergasted and said umm no. This would never work for any child yet he expected me to try this my very sensory/ADHD one. Needless to say we no longer see this Ped.

We went to a Dermatologist and tried creams. They didn't work and we had to freeze them off. It took a while but he has been Molloscum free for a year. Good luck!

My kids had it but we went to a dermatologist and they put some medicine on it. My daughter had it BAD and it took months to go away. She had it everywhere, up and down her arms and legs, even in her but crack. Chat Icon I don't see how it would have gone away without seeing the dermatologist. It just kept spreading...it didn't go away until we stopped letting her take a bath (showers only) and changed her towel daily.

OMG! That sounds torturous! I'm going to wait it out a little and try the apple cider vinegar method. They haven't spread anywhere else in a coup,e of days thankfully. But if they do start spreading again I am definitely going to take her to a derm!

Oh that sounds terrible Chat Icon When her twin brother had it a few years ago, it didn't get that bad and didn't seem to bother him. She even got a few on her at the time and hers went away quickly. His took about 6-8 weeks. So far it's not terrible and hasn't spread in a few days but it does itch her every so often. I'm trying the apple cider vinegar but will definitely take her to a derm if it starts to spread again!
