I've never deleted anyone. I have been deleted.
The only thing I've ever done was hide someone...and only because her grammar was so bad that it was making me INSANE.

I have never unfriended anyone either. But I have very tight privacy settings now and restrict a select group from viewing my posts and pictures of my kids.

The only reason I unfriend someone is if I find them to be highly offensive. Like, I deleted one of my DH's cousins because she continually compared Obama to Hitler. I don't delete for political reasons, because it's everyone's right to have their own opinions but I felt very offended. And when I stated that to her, she said "my husband is Jewish", like that made it right.
Those that have recently decided that they want to make up lies about political candidates or post racist remarks are mostly unfollowed right now. They have EVERY right to post what they want, I just don't need to see some of it on my wall right now.

I do a purge of the friends list every few years or so.
