Where to go in August
SO we were supposed to go to Europe and we have decided to opt out of that in august. Now we ( DH, two kids 10 and 6 and myself) need to plan something for August.
We had thought of doing an RV trip somewhere in the northeast but thinking the best campsites would be full up by now?
Other options are to rent a house somewhere on Cape Cod and hang out there for the week.
Road trip to Niagara Falls?
We did a road trip to montreal last summer and stopped in Portsmouth NH and loved that trip.
Any ideas for a week in August? We are basically open to anywhere - within driving dristance OR hopping on a plane. the only thing I wont do is a cruise.
Thanks!!

Re: Where to go in August
I think RV sites and renting a house would be out...those things usually book up way in advance.
I like the idea of Niagara Falls. I went as a kid and LOVED it.
Or Virginia Beach? Jersey Shore? Ocean City, MD? Someplace like that?

Hilton Head, SC
ETA: If you're looking for camping, you could try Promised Land State Park in PA. We go in August and love it, but it does book up.

you could try renting a beach house in Outer Banks, NC, Kure Beach, NC, Topsail, NC or Holden Beach, NC...depending on what week you're planning on going, the kids go back to school down there early and we always find by the 2nd or third week of August it starts getting very quiet down there. If you can find a house that is not already booked, you may be able to get a good last minute deal.

What about Lake George? We enjoyed our time there last year.

Wildwood is fun!
You can rent a cabin at the various campgrounds. Jellystone in Lancaster is a ton of fun. There is a place called Moose Hillock in Lake George that has an awesome pool your kids would love.
