1 year old and their milk consumption
My DS just turned 1 and we transitioned him to milk. He is still drinking it out of a bottle - which we will start transitioning off of once we get back from our 2 vacations this summer.
Anyway, how many ounces of milk does your 1 yr old drink in each bottle, how many bottles per day, and what is the schedule of the bottles?
I think I want to cut out one of the bottles.
This is his schedule:
7a/7:30a: 7 oz milk (sometimes he only drinks 5 oz) 8:30a/9a: Breakfast 10a-12p: Nap 12:30p/12:45p: 7 oz milk 2p/2:15p: Lunch 3:45p: 7 oz milk 4p-5p: nap 6p/6:30p: Dinner 7:30p/7:45p: 7 oz milk (sometimes he only drinks 5 oz)
I am thinking I could cut out the 3:45 bottle and transition the noonish bottle to a cup of milk with lunch and just move up lunch.
I can't remember what I did with my DD.
The above schedule is what he does at daycare and I follow it at home on the weekends but daycare will adjust his schedule however I would like regarding the bottles and lunch.

1 year old and their milk consumption
Dd2 just turned 1. She's still only getting breastmilk but at her 1 year we'll visit Saturday the pediatrician said when she does get on regular milk she shouldn't have more than 18oz a day.
Editing: with dd1 she was having 3 bottles at a year. Morning. Nap and bedtime. Shortly after she went to two, morning and night.
Dd2 is getting bm in bottles and she mostly gets 3 a day, 6oz each.

At a year they were having 3 cups a day (Playtex straw cups, I think they're 8oz or so) by 18 months they had 2 (morning and night) but if they asked for more I'd give another half cup

That's a lot of milk...formula/BM is a meal but milk is only a drink. I usually offer a 4-5oz cup with each meal. Maybe an additional 4oz after her afternoon nap.

I'd drop both middle of the day bottles and just start offering milk in a sippy during lunch.

Re: 1 year old and their milk consumption
my dd will be 1 in a few days..she is still on formula until she has her 1 year ped appt later this month but this is what i give her
wake up (usually 6-7am) 8 oz bottle (usually drinks about 5 or 6oz) 9am: breakfast (oatmeal with fruit/ french toast/eggs) and water 12: 8 oz bottle (usually drinks about 5 or 6) 2:30 lunch---yogurt, fruit, turkey, ham, crackers...something like this 4:30 dinner - whatever we eat usually 7:30- 8 oz bottle.
i like the previous posters comment about offering 4oz with each meal. i think i will do the same once we transition to whole milk

DD is 14 months and at the same we transitioned to whole milk, we dropped the bottle and only had her use the sippy cup. It worked really well for her and was easy to do. I didn't want her getting used to milk in a bottle -- felt that it would prolong/complicate the switch. She gets milk 3x a day (with breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and drinks water with her AM and PM snacks. She drinks about 4-5oz per meal and if she finishes that and is still thirsty, she gets water in a sippy cup. My pediatrician says that 16-18oz of whole milk a day is the recommended amount but that is for children who aren't getting calcium/fat with other dairy products. If your child is eating yogurt and cheese, they need less milk as a beverage.

Milk does not take the place of formula/breast milk. They should not be having the same amount. Too much can cause issues with iron absorption.
My DS had and still does only get milk at breakfast and after dinner. Any other fluids are juice or water. IMO no more than 20oz.

DD is 1 and she has about 7oz in the morning, 6 oz in the afternoon, and another 7oz bottle before bed. As soon as she turned one she started eating a lot more food so I was able to drop her to only 3 bottles a day.

Re: 1 year old and their milk consumption
My 13month DD refuses anything white out of a cup or bottle(we've tried hemp/almond and coconut milk as she has dairy/soy allergy). She gets breastfed morning and night and likely will just go to water after she weans.
