Post-baby beach vacation - where to go?

Instead of a baby-moon, DH and I are thinking of doing a post baby vacation for just the two of us. Maybe when she's about 6 months old. We have plenty of time to plan but we're trying to get ideas on where to go. We want someplace in the Caribbean and we'd prefer all-inclusive, although it's not necessary. Probably about 5 -6 days in total. Where would you go?

Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the DR are out.

Jamaica? I have always enjoyed my trips there. Staff at the resorts are always friendly.

Turks & Caicos has Beaches which is family friendly (not sure if you want that) they also have a club med that is adults only - those are the only two all inclusives there i believe

Agreed. Jamaica is still the best beach vacation DH and I ever took.

ETA: We stayed at Couples Swept Away.

Question for those that have done Jamaica - I've been to Jamaica about 3 or 4 times, but always as a stop on a cruise and found it to be very unsafe every time. Yet, most people I know who have stayed at resorts have loved it. Did you venture off the resort at all or stay on the property? Did you find it to be safe?

We did Antigua for our honeymoon (loved it but would like to try somewhere new). Barbados and Turks both sound amazing. Do you happen to know how the Club Med is on T&C?

I'll never go back. I found it very unsafe and at points scary. There was some civil unrest at the time we went and at one point flights from the US were cancelled due to it and the couple who was supposed to meet us down there couldn't fly there. They missed a few days of the trip until the US lifted the travel warning. We weren't even sure if we'd be able to get back to the airport as they were advising against leaving the resorts. I felt trapped there There were armed guards with machine guns at our resort and barbed wire.
I felt so unsafe, I really did NOT enjoy it, at all.

IMO there are much nicer, safer islands you can go to an all inclusive on

I haven't been to TC yet. we debated staying there this year - haven't pulled the trigger yet though haha
it definitely isn't as updated/nice as all the sandals resorts etc. but - we figured for the amount of time we will actually be in the room how bad could it be?
we normally stay in the nicer resorts etc... but were willing to bend on this one because we wanted to go to Turks SO bad. I would say definitely read the reviews on Trip advisor because we were looking about 8 months ago - it may have gotten better/worse.

ETA-
we have been to st martin though (stayed at the sonesta) and are dying to stay at the sandals in barbados! that one is pretty new!

Post-baby beach vacation - where to go?

We just got back from a post baby beach vacation! Last year was our 5th anniversary but just had a baby so we pushed the celebration back a year. We went to the Bahamas because it is Zika Free which was big for me since we do want another baby. We stayed at Sandals Royal Bahamian (couples only) and had an amazing time. Feel free to FM me with any questions

Re: Post-baby beach vacation - where to go?

I just got back last week from Turks and Caicos and it was amazing! We didn't do all inclusive but happy we didn't since the restaurants on the island were incredible with beautiful views. We rented a car for very cheap, like 120 for 4 days, and just took it whenever we went out for dinner or shopping. Was much cheaper than a taxi all the time. The beach is crystal clear, and the sand so white and fine. We had a great relaxing trip, though didn't do any activities but after a baby, I think relaxing is exactly what you'd need lol...

Re: Post-baby beach vacation - where to go?

I love Barbados and the British Virgin Islands...we aren't all-inclusive people because we typically go to islands where we feel safe and comfortable enough to drive around and go to local restaurants. We rented cars in both and explored.

This was one of the resorts on our short list. We did Sandals Antigua for our HM 3 years ago and LOVED it. Ever since we've talked about going to their Bahamas location. Was there anything you didnt like about it? We were debating between either the Sandals or Atlantis, but we'd prefer the couples-only aspect of Sandals.

I also agree w/ St. Martin - one of my best vacations! Barbados.

Regarding Jamaica - I have gone 3 times; two times to a resort; where we didn't leave the property (in Ocho Rios). When we stayed in Montego Bay we did leave the resort with staff to visit a local bar. Last time we went we stayed in a private villa which was totally safe and did shopping at local stores and went to Doctors Cave; took a drive to Negril (w/a driver). Great trip both times.

But when we went to St. Martin it was soooo safe. We stayed in Phillipsburg and would walk 10 minutes from the hotel to restaurants for breakfast/dinner. never had any problems. BUT DH is a big guy; so I think people tend to avoid messing with us in general LOL.

Nope we loved it, it was our second time going to this property and booked another trip for next year!

We stayed completely on the resort property. Even jet-skiing in the ocean we had to "sign out" so they could keep tabs on where we were. That being said, I never felt unsafe in the resort at all.

I would never go back to Jamaica. We stayed at a villa and while it was lovely every time we left it we were harassed. It felt totally unsafe. We were just in Bermuda and while not all inclusive the Fairmont Southampton is wonderful. I've also done a few kid free weekends at the Ritz in Key Biscayne FL - it is great, easy to get to, and you don't have to leave the country.
