Trying to break a middle of the night wake-up

My dd still nurses once in the middle of the night. Usually around midnight after going to bed around 7. She (most of the time) goes right back down, no trouble, very quick and then she sleeps until morning. She gets up at about 5:15 every day...that's a whole other story Chat Icon

My issue is she wakes up around 2 sometimes. We've tried having her lay there and not going in...But the she stands in her crib and I feel like she wakes herself up more this way. She is capable of going back to bed on her own. She sometimes just finds her pacifier and and gets cozy again. But a lot of times she immediately jumps up.

Tips?

Should I just go in and lay her back down with pacifier and see if that works? I have been taking her out which I'm realizing is probably adding to the problem, and nursing or rocking.

Also, how long would you give it trying to lay her back down before it's the point of no return? Like I said, we see that the longer she's up, she wakes more, not tires out.

I would ignore her if she's not sick,in pain etc.

When you put her back down at 12, is she awake or asleep?

Eta: I see you say she is capable of settling herself down and going back to sleep. I think you just need to let her do that. It's hard, I know, but I'd try not to respond to her cries at that time. How long do you let her cry before going in now? Try waiting a few minutes longer and see if she'll settle herself down.

It's worth trying. With my older dd, there was no getting her back down without nursing. With my younger one, I could pick her up, sing for a minute, and put her back down and she'd go back to sleep. How old is she?

How old? If she's standing, I'm assuming she's old enough to put the paci in herself. I'd leave her and cut the night feeding, if you want to do that, too.

This, I actually turned the sound off on the monitor (my house is not that big so I can hear him without the monitor). Once I did this he started sleeping much better because I wasn't going in all the time for him.
