Trip ideas for ds and I
My oldest ds' birthday is around Columbus Day and I would like to take him on a vacation just the two of us. He is turning 11. We could do probably 5 days. We will go anywhere, but no beaches or Disney. We would love to explore a city or do something outdoorsy. We are both into history. Any ideas?

We went to Boston recently. It was awesome and would be really nice in the fall. We were there in January as DH had a conference so DD and I (8 at the time) were on our own most of the day. We went to the New England Aquarium, the State House Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts and the science museum. Since the weather will be better when you go you can walk the Freedom Trail which I definitely want to do next time.

Williamsburg is great. You can do a mix of historical Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. And it should still be warm enough to enjoy the pools

I don't know much about it but I think the Grand Canyon and that area looks like a very cool place to explore.

Washington DC, Williamsburg VA, Chicago, California....LA and San Diego.
If you like history...Williamsburg has Yorktown, Jamestown, colonial Williamsburg, and then there are fun things like bush gardens. Or you could do Williamsburg, DC and end in philly.
