Decided that maybe it wouldn't be a good idea to bring another innocent baby into this crazy world?

I'm having a real hard time with the recent events of the Orlando shooting and with all that's going on in regards to terrorism, I'm just not so sure anymore that I should be trying for another child.


I already have a beautiful child that I'm already worried for that has to grow up in this sick world.... Maybe I should stop trying for baby number 2?

I don't want to live in fear, but it seems like you can't go anywhere anymore, theme parks, malls, etc without fearing for your life..

Does anyone else feel like I do?

Not to sound corny, but that's more a reason to bring a loving child into the world. I want to be a good mom and raise two good boys. My family and I give them so much love, teach them to respect, learn, be chivalrous, etc. So far I am amazed at how sweet, honest. smart and loving they are and I hope they stay this way and have an effect on others.
Would rather bring more good into the world then bad.

I totally understand how you feel, but you can't live like that or you're letting "them" win.

i worry about this too with my son... he's 5, and its just SO upsetting the crazy world he's growing up in, and the things he has to hear about already!!
he's adopted, though- so technically i didn't bring him into the world LOL and thats why we'll probably adopt a second one, too. Theres a child who has already been brought into this crazy world into a tough situation--- who needs us even more, to show him what love,kindness and a family is

I feel the same way you do. DH and I are on the fence about trying for baby #2. When things like this happen, it makes me think that I may be making an mistake bringing another child into this sick world.

I worry about my 14 month old daily and my DH who commutes to NYC everyday. But I agree with PP, we have to focus on the good and keep living otherwise the terrorists win. They want to get rid of us and by not having children I feel like it's a win for them.

We just have to do our best to keep our kiddies safe, teach them love and respec and how to stand up for what is right in this world. Maybe one of our children will make a difference in the step to ending unnecessary hatred.

Hugs to all of us mama's though. I don't think anyone worries more.

I feel you. Ever since the rape case I'm even more worried about my 3 year old dd and the world she is growing up in. This world is a scary place. You have to do what's right for you

My DH agrees with everything you said. We were on the fence about having one at all. We hope it gets better but the world seems to continually have more bad things happening and a change is needed for everyone to feel safe again. Unfortunately, i don't see it getting better.

I only have one, not trying for #2 ever and I question all the time if I made the right choice to bring her into this shitshow of a world. It sucks but I tell myself that our kids WILL be the ones to change it. Fingers crossed.

I am one and done for other reasons. But I.look at it this way. There is way more good in this world than bad. I love life, I love living. I am glad my parents brought me into this world...as effed up as it is.
I never say, Damn there is so much evil in the world I wish I was never born. Never once.
I am glad for the life I have and intend to live every moment of it.

It's funny you say this. Earlier today I was thinking about how much sadness and turmoil there is in the world and that I feel guilty for bringing an innocent child into such a mess. I was a worrier to begin with, but having a child has put me over the edge!

Theres always been really bad things in the world. I think 24 hour news, social media and so on make it more apparent and give it more notoriety (which does make things a little worse because there are people who do these things for their 15 minutes of fame). But my mom always talks about the year all the colleges closed early after the Kent State shootings. I remember coming home from school to news of the first WTC bombing. If everyone thought that way none of us would ever be born. I am going to try to raise a loving, happy, accepting child and hope for the best for her and her generation. But I understand the fear.

I know how you feel. We brought DD home the day of the Boston bombing. We were so caught up in the emotions it was hard to really focus on the events of that day but I remember thinking how we just brought a baby into this crazy world. It's a scary world we live in -- I just want to bottle up DD's innocence and keep her small and protected forever.

For me, I always wanted a family and more than one child as well. That being said, I wouldn't let what's happening in the world deter me from mine own dreams of a family. Yes, bad things happen and not everything is wonderful in the world but like NervousNell mentioned...........I love life. I'm thankful to be alive and despite what is going on around us having my children and watching them grow is the greatest joy of my life. I wouldn't give that up on the outside chance something bad may happen.

Life is full of risks but you have to keep chugging along and live your life, you can't let fear and worry stop you. If you REALLY want another child don't let recent events or the fear of something bad happening keep you from having another child. If you don't want another child because you just don't want another child that is one thing but to stop at one out of fear will most likely bring you regret later in life.
