Need help with figuring out how to manage bday party
I'm having a petting zoo with pony rides at my son's 1st bday party. There is going to be about 45 kids ranging in age from 1-12, the large majority between 3-6. I'm trying to figure out a way to organize the pony ride line without having the kids have to wait on line. I'm trying to figure out a way that I can do a sign up sheet or something? so that they can go to the petting zoo, bounce house, whatever, rather than standing on a line. Any suggestions?

wow! thats a lot of kids! more power to ya! LOL
ANYWAY... could you maybe break them up into groups, before the party even? like based on age or family or who you know they're closest with?? Then do a rotation. like have group A,B,C,D. for the first, say, 15 minutes, group A is at the bounce house, group B is at the pony ride... whatever. THEN the groups rotate to the next "station"/activity??
you could even give the groups names that go with the party theme (if you have one)

It is an absurd amount of kids. I couldn't even believe it. I just invited our usual "big party" guests, not realizing how much we have multiplied since my first son's first birthday. I almost stroked out when I added up the number of favors I needed.
Thanks for the idea. I could definitely put the kids into groups ahead of time. I guess my whole concern is making sure I can find them when it's their turn. I really can't do "stations" per se because the activities are going to be spread out among my back and side yards so it would be hard to convey the information to switch. I think I'm just going to have to make sure their parents are helping me keep on it.

I think the parents usually manage their own kids at parties like that. I usually keep an eye on the lines and when it dies down I head over there with mine

The only other option might be a clipboard by the pony ride with times on it, so people can sign up. I don't know how long a pony ride lasts; I assume less than 5 minutes, so you can have 3-4 people sign up per time slot and then they aren't waiting. You can put 15 minute intervals.

Re: Need help with figuring out how to manage bday party
We just went to a 1st bday party with a balloon guy and he had one of those number slip things like they have at bakeries and delis, and then a board where he advanced the numbers. It was great because people were still eating and kids doing crafts and yiu just had to glance up now and then to see what number they were up to.

I would do a clip board with time slots. Then the guests keep an eye on the time. They will think that's just how the pony company does it.

45 kids?! Get a few more ponies, for sure.
(I like the "deli number" idea)

How long is the party? If you only have 1 pony, I would definitely get a 2nd. 45 kids riding 1 pony takes a LONG time!
