Any "will" attorneys around for a quick question?
I tried calling Surrogate Court, but it just rings and rings... I'm trying to claim Unclaimed Funds on behalf of my mother, who died 15 years ago. I need to get a Certificate of Appointment (that I was Executor), dated within the past 6 months. The Letter Testamentary that I have is 15 years old. What do I need to file/fill out to get a recent one? I tried the forms on the NY Courts website, but much of it is "legal jargon" that I'm not familiar with, so I don't want to just be spinning my wheels for months on end, filling out wrong forms. Any help?

I work for an Estate Attorney. You have to go to the Surrogate's Court in which the Will was probated - Queens, Suffolk etc. and ask for an updated Letters Testamentary. You can request via mail (i think they are $6 and you have to send an envelope etc.) but going to the court house is easier.
