Dental Plans- United Healthcare
I have a discount dental card which costs me less than $100 a year and it basically offers me a small discount on dental work. I need a lot of work done on my teeth - I have some receding gums, one back tooth to be extracted, a tooth with a crack in it...basically a mess. My employer offers United Healthcare for the family at a cost of $150 per month..do you think its worth it to get this? I have checked and while my current dentist does not accept them I can find dentists within 30 miles that will work for me.
Anyone care to chime in?
TIA

Re: Dental Plans- United Healthcare
Check what the max payment per year is per person and what the discounted rate will be after.
Some dental plans will have say $1,500 per year max. Then discount all work done after that by 30% (not real numbers for that insurance - just trying to explain what I mean)
Will the $150 per month be with the cost going forward?
I have EDP and have had some major dental work done. Most at 50-60% off. My dentist has specialists on staff who also accept it
You just need to work the numbers

I agree with the maximum amount if it's $1500 max per year and your paying that much for just you per month it's not worth it. Unless you have others in your family who will utilize the insurance. You would also have to check deductibles and coinsurance amounts. If you have any questions FM me, I worked 14 years in a dental office front desk.
