Moms with kids with asthma
My 5 year old has asthma. She has not had a good stretch without being on medications since Dec. We just finished up 5 days of oral steroids. She is on a daily inhaled steroid and Singulair and the neublizer. Her wheezing and cough are back again. In March I gave up with the regular Ped and took her to see a Ped pluminologst. I feel so bad for my daughter. She has such low energy because she is always out of breath or wheezing. Any one else have a child like this? Any medications that really help? Anyone try an air purifier in their home and have success?

The Pulmonologist should put her on a daily medication that can help. My son takes Dulera everyday. We also started allergy shots and that has helped with the seasonal allergies. Good luck!

I sent you an FM. But by cutting all wheat and dairy out of diet for 3mos to "reset" body and then slowly reintroducing for special occasions my dd hasn't been sick once this year!
However I use albuterol, q-var, and Claritin every time she starts to cough 3-4x this season and it nips it in the bud.

She is on daily medications. She is on singulair and quvar. She is also on Flonase for constant nasal congestion.

My son was on Qvar and it didn't help much. He's on Dulera now and it has worked better.

Our pulminologist has us on a daily (QVar) and we use levalbuterol as a rescue. The addition of daily QVar has helped tremendously.
Do you use a air chamber to do the Singulair? Without that, I find it doesn't work as effectively.
We also found that this Spring the allergies have been bad for him. We started him in daily Claritin and he's been so much better. The cough and congestion have subsided altogether and he hasn't needed his rescue all that much.
