Itchy soles of feet?
DD has complained sporadically for years that the bottoms of her feet are itchy. She will rip her shoes and socks off and kick her feet around saying they're itchy. If I try to scratch them for her she yells and says it hurts. She never has any rash, bites, or anything obvious to make them itchy. I mentioned to the ped, he thinks it might be attention seeking but I know my child and it's not. No clue what it is though.
Now DS (younger than DD) has twice complained that the bottoms of his feet are "tickly". Same scenario, pulling off his socks and almost crying that his feet are tickling. No bites or rash on him either. I know he's not copying DD because she doesn't complain of this very often and I don't even know if she's ever said it in front of him. They also use different terminology to describe it.
I will ask the doctor again but does anyone have any idea what this could be? I've Googled but didn't come up with much. So strange that now it's two of my kids.

Itchy soles of feet?
Never heard of it but maybe it could be related to the sweat on thier feet. I get bad eczema on the sides of my feet durning the summer and the Derm told me it was from sweating and then drying, it can dry the skin out. Maybe try taking them to a podiatrist or a ped dermatologist.

My DD did that! It lasted for a week or two. I have video of her rubbing her feet in the carpet to itch them. We never figured it out. Dr just said it could be an allergy to something. That same time whenever she went outside she would get small hives on her arms. This was in the spring time when she was about 20 months old. She's now 3 1/2 and it hasn't happened since.

My DD has had this happen! Usually after a shower, and she has to itch her feet on the carpet. I'm not sure if it was a reaction to soap/shampoo, etc. It hasn't happened in a while, but it was happening quite often!

Re: Itchy soles of feet?
It could be athletes foot... try lightweight cotton socks. And let her air her feet out as much as she can. I had it as a kid and it was horrible. Need to keep her feet as dry as you can...

Itchy soles of feet?
Thanks everyone. Would athletes foot be visible? I've never dealt with it so I'm not exactly sure what to look for. The feet look normal to me! I know DS's feet are often sweaty at the end of the day when I take off his shoes and socks but the two time's he's complained were at home while he was only wearing socks.
I'm glad that it doesn't seem to be some larger issue at least.

Yes, because athlete's foot is a fungal infection, so you would see it. It's most likely not that if the feet look normal. My DD definitely doesn't have athlete's foot.

Itchy soles of feet?
Could it be the shape of their arches and the itchiness is actually pins and needles?

I doubt it, for us personally, my DD knows the difference in when her feet are asleep and that feeling you get, and a feeling of itchiness.
Could be detergent used to wash the socks. Try to switch to something else, or nix fabric softener!

My niece has high arches and she used to say the arch was itchy. She brought her to a foot dr and that's what it turned out to be. She now has custom orthodics in her sneakers and it has helped a ton.
