Nashville Trip Review
We had so much fun! Highly recommend.
Research before trip: Googled different things about Nashville. Hotels, Things to do, Stub Hub: Purchased tickets for the Grand Ole Opry. Trip Advisor
Flights: When we looked at flights, all of the carriers were pretty much the same price. But wound up booking with Southwest because they didn’t charge a baggage fee. At first we were flying out of LGA direct to Nashville, but the cheaper flights opened up out of Islip. So we changed the flights to leave out of ISP. There is a layover in Baltimore, but it worked out pretty well coming and going.
Hotel:
Omni Hotel. Great hotel. Room was clean and nice. Perfect location. 1 block away from Broadway (where everything is). Directly next to the convention center, and 1 block away from the Bridgestone Arena. Roof top pool and Jacuzzi.
Food:
Most of the time we left the hotel for meals. Only had lunch once at the bar attached to the Omni. Some of the places we went to: Merchants on Broadway: Lunch. Good food (burgers, chicken on a bun) etc. Pancake Pantry: Breakfast. Really good breakfast about 5 min from hotel Monell’s: Dinner. Best dinner of the trip. 5 min from hotel. True southern home cooking. Mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, roast beef, green beans, peach cobbler. Served family style and you sit with people you don’t know. $16 all you can eat. Dunkin Doughnuts: Right across the street Barlines: DH had a fried bologna sandwich. It was huge! 2 slices of bologna that were about a ¼ inch thick. It was crazy…but good. HG Hill Urban Market: Picked up water, cheese and crackers for Lunch when we had a big breakfast. Cracker Barrel: Breakfast. About a 10 min ride from the hotel. Claim Jumper: Dinner at the Mall. Demos steak and Spaghetti House: Dinner. Food was pretty good. Didn’t leave hungry..LOL Mike’s Ice Cream: Really good ice cream….lines around the block.
Attractions:
Grand Ole Opry Ryman Auditorium Grey Line tour for the show Nashville- this was fun. Was able to go to the blue bird, see the houses that are filmed for the show. Opry Mills Mall. Huge Mall Horse and Carriage ride- fun…went with 4 other random people….it was cheaper that way.
Shopping:
There are many many souvenir shops and boot stores. There are a few shops that have buy 1 pair get 2 free. Boots weren't the best quality…and what would we do with three pairs of boots? LOL Most of the shops would ship the boots home for you for $25 each pair. Sometime it works out better because you don’t pay tax. Visitor Cerner- at the Bridgestone Arena.
Transportation:
Walking: Be prepared to walk, walk and walk some more…there are a lot hills to walk up, and each bar is about 3 flights high with about 15-20 steps per flight. Uber: Great choice for getting around. For the whole time we were there, and the places that we went to…we paid less than $100. If we rented a car, I believe there is a $45 dollar a day fee to park at the hotel. The drivers gave great advice on places to eat. Green bus: We found out the day before we were leaving there is a green bus that you can ride for free to get around. Golf Carts: There were also golf carts running around that would take you around if you wanted to.
