Birthday trip to Caribbean in December
It's a milestone birthday for me the beginning of December. I decided I want to go away. I can't figure out where to go. Nothing jumps out at me. If I wanted to make it an extended vacation, I would go back to Hawaii, but don't feel like going away that long that time of year so will save that for another time. We have been to DR, Bermuda, Aruba, Antingua, Bahamas, cruises. Thought about Mexico and even though my DH is nervous going there, he said he would go, but I decided against it. Not crazy for all inclusive, but I see if I wanted adults only, that is the way to go. We like a little nightlife too. Any recommendations on an island/resort? Been researching online a lot and read some posts on here.

For nightlife, I'd do Cancun or San Juan PR.

Really? We stayed at the Sonesta too and were out every night! Between the casino, the bars on that main strip and then we went into Philipsburg a couple of nights...

Birthday trip to Caribbean in December
We stayed at Banyan Tree in Playa Del Carmen and it was beyond amazing. It's in a complex with 2 other hotels and transportation is provided to the other hotels, so there are a ton of options for dining and entertainment. We also left the hotel a few times to do dinner and shopping on "5th Avenue" and we always felt safe. I would highly recommend!!!

Re: Birthday trip to Caribbean in December
I love the BVI...we have stayed in resorts and chartered a sailboat with a captain and a chef...my personal favorites are Virgin Gorda, Peter Island, and Anegada. We aren't all-inclusive people, and love to eat at local restaurants, shop in small markets, and cook in our villa. The sailboat charter was amazing and we are just waiting for our youngest to be a stronger swimmer so that we can do it again as a family.

We really love Aruba. A mix of relaxation during the day, great restaurants and enough nightlife. Playa Del Carmen is another great town. You can find a mix of all inclusive and more boutique type accommodations in that area.

Virgin Gorda is amazing! Bitter End Yacht Club is beautiful! (was also going to recommend Little Dix Bay but just saw that as of this week they are closed for an 18 onth major renovation ). Loved THe Baths on Virgin Gorda - incredible!

Re: Birthday trip to Caribbean in December
We go to St. Barts every year in December. It's in the Caribbean. It is absolutely amazing and that's why we keep going back. This will be our 5th time there in 3 years. There is a forum dedicated to the island SBHonline.con
Turks and Caicos is also amazing. Different then St Barts though. We went in March this year and going back to Turks at Grace bay club this week. We had a blast which is why we are going back right away.
St. Barts does not have all inclusive and everyone rents their own villa and rental car usually a Mini Cooper. The island is French and very chic and upscale. There are many beaches and restaurants and there is nightlife. There are hotels but they are not mega resorts. Many celebs frequent the island and for a big birthday I would highly reccomend it.
