Transitioning from crib to bed
We're looking to move my 2.5 year old DS from his crib into a full size bed. We never got the toddler bed conversion kit, just the full size bed so it will be a bit of a jump, but that's what it's gonna be... that being said, please share your tips for success! I'm kinda dreading it since he sleeps well in his crib and I don't want to disrupt the flow but hopefully the BTDT moms can set us in the right direction!

Transitioning from crib to bed
we just switched dd at 3 yr old into a twin. It went smooth no issues. We did about it for a long time, set it up, we didn't make the switch until a week later when we had everything set up. got her a new princess sheets, and blanket and pillow. No issues at all. she went from a crib

Re: Transitioning from crib to bed
We got DS a guard rail for his big boy bed since he moves around a lot in his sleep. But he's in a twin so he has less room to move around than a full.

We put up a rail on his toddler bed at home but he doesn't need it. He just likes it. He's slept at my parents house in my old twin bed without any problems. No rails there!

Transitioning from crib to bed
If hes sleeping well then why switch?
I transitioned dd after she turned 3 she wasnt sleeping well at all. I took her with me to pottery barn and let her pick her sheets. She helped my husband when we took apart the crib and converted to full size bed (we skipped toddler bed) And she was fine. No issues at all.

Re: Transitioning from crib to bed
thanks for the feedback everyone. the reason I'm thinking about switching is because we're going away in two months and DS's sleeping arrangement where we go will be a twin size bed so I didn't want to run into a disaster on vacation. I figured he'd have enough time to adjust at home and then when we go on vacation he'll be used to it.
I'm happy to hear it's been a non-event for many of you. I'm just dreading once he realizes he can get out on his own lol

We put a safety knob on the inside of Sean's door so he can't get out of his room and we told him it's just like his crib and he's not allowed to get out without us. So every morning when he wakes up he says "Mom I'm ready"!!! I still can't believe that worked!
