Please help me figure out bedtime for my 2 month old
So here's my dilemma DD is 2 months old. Some nights I nurse her, put her in the bassinet and she falls asleep pretty quickly. Some nights I hold the pacifier in her mouth to help her fall asleep. I lie down with my arm in the bassinet and sometimes I fall asleep at the same time. There are nights when I want to stay up and watch tv but I never know if I'm going to have to help her get to sleep. Is it wrong to hold her on the couch until 10-10:30 knowing that she may fall asleep but not really sleep well? Any other suggestions?

My DC is one month and we are also on the couch until 10:30-11. We really want to change this, and try to put him down between 730-8. He is impossible right now, and will not sleep at that time.

My second had some phases where she was hard to put down. I would hold her on the couch and once she was out I would lay her down in the couch next to me until we went to bed. She slept well as long as I was next to her (not that I would leave her there at all anyway).

My DD is almost 7 weeks and we used to hold her on the couch until the 11pm feeding but we are trying to stop it and get her in her room during that time. We aren't always successful but it's getting better. She keeps waking up 5-10 minutes after we get her down. Although the last 2 nights she hasn't or after a couple wake ups she sleeps.
I don't think it's "wrong" to keep her on the couch but for us it wasn't a long term solution a and it was less relaxing.

At 2 months......roll with it. It will not be a set time and if you find something that works now it won't in awhile. Just figure out what works for your DC cause it's very kid specific.

Nothing to figure out lol, the second you get it down, it will change. At two months you just have to go with the flow

Same. We would just put her down whenever we went to bed. I don't think we did bedtime til about 4-5 months and even then it was at around 9-930.

At 2 months you do whatever works. Sleep starts to consolidate and habits start to form around 3 months. Then you can try to get into some sort of schedule. Maybe. All babies are different. DS was great by 11 weeks. DD...not so much.

I agree, babies are so different! I never really had problems with ds1, except the occasional time where I'd give him a bottle and he'd fall asleep right away but this didn't last for long. With ds2 is a totally different story! He wakes up constantly! Like every 2 hrs, even less sometimes! He's 8 months. Although I do have a bedtime for him (actually for both of my kids which is 8:30, 9), once in a blue moon ds2 would sleep in my arms while I'm watching tv in the leaving room. We cosleep, even bed share sometimes. I just can't imagine having to wake up and go to his room multiple times a night =(

It depends on the kid. Both of mine were STTN at 8 weeks and both were in bed by asleep by 8pm every night, slept until 7-7:30am. They are now 3 yrs old and 7 yrs old have the same exact sleeping routine.
OP, you know your baby best so you have to figure out what works for you. I followed my kids cues, they always seemed ready for bed between 7:30-8pm so I just rolled with that and encouraged it.
ETA - My DD actually would go down at 7:30pm but wake up for one more bottle at around 10pm until she was 12 wks old. DS, 8 weeks and he never woke for a bottle again.
