airport arrival - Islip
How early do you arrive for a flight out of Islip? Having a difference of opinion with a family member on how early to arrive. I know its a smaller airport but not sure if that means we should chance not getting there as early as we doo when we fly JFK.
We are flying out on a Sunday and flight is 7:15 am.
TIA

We left on a Monday morning in Feb and only got there an hour before. We had exactly enough time to get through security, buy breakfast and be at our gate with only a few minutes to waste before boarding.

1.5 hrs tops. Any earlier and you're just going to be sitting around doing nothing. You don't need to leave a ton of time when traveling from MacArthur, it's so small that you move through security and check-in SO fast.

That completely depends on whether or not you are traveling during holiday/school break time. If it's school break/holiday, I would get there at least 1.5 hours early. We were there on Good Friday for a 6am flight, and it was mobbed. Many people missed their flights because security was taking very long.
I just flew out of there Friday morning at 6am and there was no line at all. 5 minutes to get through.

Then leave a little more time for sure. The news has also been reporting how TSA is short staffed and security lines are long lately

Then I would definitely get there early! Better early than late. They were calling multiple names and those people were in security line still, and they ultimately closed the door and left without them! and security won't push people through if their flight is leaving.
