Animal Kingdom Lodge
Both of my boys are currently very much into animals. After seeing a commercial on Disney Jr. we started thinking about staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge as a birthday treat for older DS who is now 6.
Can anyone give me info about the hotel, what there is to do there (like seeing animals, etc)? We do not plan to visit MK or any other parks. We live in FL only 2 hours away from parks so this trip would be just to do Animal Kingdom.
TIA.
ETA: Looking at rooms and pricing... what exactly is club level access and is it worth it?

Animal Kingdom Lodge
i've heard its beautiful there!! there are spots all around where the animals come up so you can see them. I've heard its a little far from the parks except AK-- but if you're not planning on going to the other ones anyway, its probably not a huge deal. Club level gives you access to a lounge that has snacks and drinks all during the day. not meant to be meal replacements- but just nice to be able to go in there and grab a snack or drink or whatever. i heard its nice for breakfast bc you can just grab some fruit or a muffin or something on your way out to the parks...

Re: Animal Kingdom Lodge
Sounds like a lovely birthday trip. We have not stayed there but have eaten at Animal Kingdom Lodge. The view of the animals grazing around is awesome. We also enjoyed the food at Sanaa.
My boys LOVE AK. They love collecting badges more than the rides.

Re: Animal Kingdom Lodge
The hotel is very fun. They have art and tours you can do. Plenty of viewing areas, a decent pool. Concierge level is simply a floor with access to a special lounge. We did it once there. We had a club level/concierge level savanna view. Breakfast was good. Muffins, cereals, fruit, I think they had yogurt and oatmeal too. Continental breakfast basically. With juices and coffee. They have sodas, water, I think beer and at night some cordials. After ons they had cookies, fruit and things like goldfish, etc. at night they have hors-d'oeuvres. Nothing fancy. I am sure some might make it a light meal, but it is really more a snack in a lounge. I wouldn't do club level all the time, but for a special occasion sure.

Animal Kingdom Lodge
We stayed there August 2015. We LOVED it!!! We woke up to see animals eating outside our window every single morning. We had amazing views through all the windows as we walked through the resort. There was night viewing with night vision glasses (very cool). There were plenty of animal guides around to talk about the animals. They had a fire pit outside in the evening with huge rocking chairs to sit and relax in. The art around the resort is ah-mah-zing!!! We would stay there again in a heartbeat. Just an FYI - Jambo House is currently undergoing refurbishment, so you should book a room at Kidani Village. They are both AKL.
