NJ Beach Resort to stay with friends

Looking to meet up with some friends at the Jersey shower for Memorial Day weekend. My friend and I both like higher end hotels.

Can you recommend some nice beach resorts?

I was looking into Pt Pleasant because I liked the beach and amenities there but the area seems to only have motels.

There aren't too many nicer hotels on the Jersey shore. Most are motels. I remember someone posting about this one though, near Wildwood

http://iconaresorts.com/

Also there is a nice one in Cape May http://www.caperesorts.com/hotels/capemay/congresshall/

We did a girls trip to Ocean Place in Long Branch last year and plan on returning. The rooms are updated, the hotel is very pretty and modern, has a pool and spa, right on the beach, the village is 100% walkable, tiki bar, etc...

The only one I found that I would stay in was Icona.
Other than that, luxury is hard to come by.

We didn't have the best experience at Icona last summer. Parking was very difficult even with our parking pass. Our room wasn't great and the carpets were soggy like they had just been cleaned. My feet were wet the entire time. Strange how the carpet never dried. I wonder if they recleaned when they turned the room and that is why it stayed wet? It is a bit of a pet peeve of mine - wet socks/wet feet. And it took FOREVER to order and get our food at the restaurants. We never got a chair at the pool entire time we were there. The only time I got to sit on a chair was when we tried to order lunch and another lady gave me an evil eye for like 2 hours because she thought we stole her table even though the waitress is the one who gave us the table after we waited for ~1 hour.

The beach and Ocean City/Cape May area was nice. We had a great time overall.

Oh that stinks! We had a great experience.
However the restaurant there SUCKEDDD. I can't even tell you how bad our experience was there for both breakfast and dinner. Horrible service and i had to send my dinner back because it tasted and smelled sour as did the people at the next table.
I do NOT recommend eating there.

We may have gone during a holiday weekend. I can't remember anymore but the resort was super crowded. The pool wasn't big enough to accommodate all the guests. That was for sure.

I think it was you who said parking at the boardwalk was tough so we went very early and that part was fine. The bad part was coming back to our own hotel and being unable to park.

Our dining experience was definitely unpleasant. It seemed unnecessarily chaotic and disorganized. We literally had to ask like 5 workers to order and finally one person said we could order, then tried to get us a table. The food order was incorrect and it literally took another 15 minutes to get utensils and another 10 for ketchup. It really was ridiculously bad! One of the worst dining experiences of my life and all we were trying to get was like salad, chicken tenders and some drinks. Very typical poolside food. The service workers were nice enough. They seemed overwhelmed but it really wasn't that many people. The place was just small. It wasn't operated properly.

Doesn't your parking pass entitle you to a spot? We didn't have an issue but I would have marched right in to the front desk and asked where my spot was. I thought there was one spot for each room no? Were people parking illegally there?

No, the spots were not individually reserved. We were told we could park in any spot.

I had the same restaurant issues at Icona when I went. If I remember right, the breakfast there was ok...but the dinner was a disaster! Parking wasnt an issue when I went. When I go back to the shore, thats the only place I'd stay...the rest of the hotels there are old and ghetto.

Right but I thought they had enough spots for every room. That had to be annoying and I would have totally bitched

DH dropped us off and then he waited for a spot. Memory blurry but I think there were some restaurant spots. Would not be surprised if some restaurant guests parked in the hotel guest spots. Also, some guests may have had 2 cars? All I know is that we came back and there were no spots left!

Don't get me wrong. That was a great weekend. We went to the zoo, rode surrey bikes on the boardwalk, had some decent seafood, and kids played at the pool and beach. It wasn't that big of a deal that we didn't have chairs at the pool. I sat on the pool edge as did DH.

I did like that we had a full kitchen in our suite.

If you want a "higher end" experience - you may be better off trying to rent a house down there... Other than the hotel you mentioned above - most of the lodging at the Jersey Shore is kind of dated.

The Reges Oceanfront Resort in Wildwood looks nice (a FB friend just liked something on their page so it popped up in my newsfeed).

My friend seems to approve of this Cape May resort. Just need her DH's approval and we will book. Thanks for the recommendation.

This place was exactly what I was looking for. Too bad it has a minimum stay. DH and my friends don't want to take any time off from work.
