Toddler stopped drinking milk
DD is 2.5 and up until a week ago she was still drinking her milk out of a bottle. She's been drinking water and juice from a cup since before she was 1, but never wanted to drink milk from a cup. We took her to the store and let her pick out a special new cup for milk, which she did and was very excited about. She used it once and now just refuses. She hasn't asked for her bottle back so I think she was ready to give it up, but now she went from drinking 12-15 oz of milk a day to less than 4 oz. I've tried every different type of cup and she just won't drink more than a few sips. Should I be concerned?

Toddler stopped drinking milk
Same exact situation. Dd dropped her bottle late at 2 years, 5 months. I held onto it that long bc she also refused milk from a cup. She still doesn't drink milk from a cup much but she has yogurt every day and cheese. It's fine.

Toddler stopped drinking milk
My dd stopped drinking milk (and she drank almond milk due to dairy protein intolerance) by age 2.5. Milk is not a necessity. Does your dc eat yogurt and cheese? Then i wouldnt worry at all.

Toddler stopped drinking milk
My dd never drank milk-once I weaned her she refused- occasionally she will ask for milk take a couple of sips then makes a face and refuse the rest-I give her Tums (for extra calcium) and a vitamin d supplement at her pediatrician's recommendation:

Re: Toddler stopped drinking milk
DD never drinks milk- from like 2 years old to now. I don't even buy milk anymore because it goes to waste. They don't need milk and to be honest it can be very constipating.

Re: Toddler stopped drinking milk
The only ones that NEED cows milk are baby cows. As long as your child has a balanced diet, and your making sure they get calcium and vit D, etc, from other sources, and stay hydrated, dairy milk is not necessary.
If it ever gets warm, you can freeze yogurt blended with fruit in ice pop molds, and it makes healthy, soft ice pop :)

Toddler stopped drinking milk
Thanks for all the replies! She does eat cheese and yogurt so that's good. I always assumed she loved milk because she always asked for a bottle. I guess she just loved her bottle. I'm happy to hear that she doesn't need milk as much as I thought she did.

Re: Toddler stopped drinking milk
I think this is common... my 2 year old lost interest in milk several months ago. Not that he never drinks it, but he almost never asks for it & if I give him he usually doesn't finish it. I'm ok with it because he eats a ton & loves yogurt & cheese & takes a vitamin so I don't worry about it.
