DD4 is driving me nuts - clothing related
Does anyone else have a strong will child when it comes to what she will and won't wear???
Right now we're in the midst of a pants rebellion. She will only wear leggings of a certain length.
I'm at my wit's end. I've tried to not give in and make her wear things she doesn't like. For example, full length leggings rather than cropped leggings. She will literally whine and cry the entire day. THE ENTIRE DAY. And she doesn't just do it with me. One day her teacher told me she complained the entire day about the pants she was wearing. She told her multiple times how she didn't like her pants.
I'm really hoping this is a phase. I've seen so many cute spring outfits but I refuse to buy them because I know she won't wear them. I can't tell you how many things are hanging in her closet with tags on them.

DD is almost 6 and same thing. She refuses to wear jeans or any pant with a button and zipper EVERYTHING has to be elastic waist like leggings or jeggings.
She won't wear things that are tight in certain areas.
Oh and for a while she refused to wear shorts. She'd only wear little skirts and scooters in the summer. I think we are over that now, but this summer will tell.
I have so many things that just sit there with tags on because she refuses to wear them.
I don't fight that battle- i figure at this point it's not worth it. I only buy stuff I know she will wear

Lots of kids have sensory issues and don't like restrictive clothing. So while it might be a phase, it just might be that the clothing really bothers her

DC3 is very picky with what he wears. No jeans, he will only wear shirts with trucks/balls on them. He has issues when its time to switch seasons and go from shorts to pants, t-shirts to long sleeves and vice versa. Make me

Dd is 6 and will only wear dresses. Only dresses. I can get her in tights and leggings under the dress, but she refuses pants and shirts. I feel you.

We go through the same thing!! If DD had her way she'd never wear pants or shorts ever again. Only dresses and sandals!!
It is not unheard of for us to go through two or three outfit changes before we both agree on what she's wearing. And sometimes she decides AS WE'RE WALKING OUT THE DOOR that she doesn't want to wear what she has on. Those days you just see everyone crying and throwing tantrums and whoever is crying the hardest wins. Sometimes it's me, sometimes it's her. It's a nightmare, but I compromise where I can.

Uggh, just had to stock up on leggings at target. Dd started complaining about her jeans digging into her belly when she sits. I tried loosening all the inner elastics but she didn't care. The other day she wanted to go out with her jeans totally unzipped so they'd be comfy lol. When she puts on new pants she does a few knee bends to test them out before she agrees to wear them. She has a huge stack of jeans and pants she refuses to wear.

I let DS wear what he wants. His clothes are a battle I think is not worth fighting. I'd rather do laundry every night than have the clothes battle.

Re: DD4 is driving me nuts - clothing related
DD2 loves dresses and skirts. I got her a new dress on Saturday and she hasn't taken it off since - she even sleeps in it. Tonight I need to pick the fight though or she will start to smell
I generally think clothes are not a battle worth fighting - as long as they are dressed appropriately for the weather I generally let them wear what they want.

Same here. DD is 4 and likes to choose her own clothes, and I let. And sometimes she wears a leotard and giant tutu to her sisters doctor appointment, and it's fine. The time she did that, her doctor, who I highly respect, actually commended me for letting her wear what she wants. He said giving them control over what they put on their body, give them control of their body and builds self-esteem. It helps in teaching them that no one should tell them what to do with their body, and he pointed out that this translates to her being 16 and not allowing anyone else to control her body - so I continue to allow her this control. Just something to think about. Sometimes I really want to buy her these cute outfits, but really, it's not about me.
That being said, she knows that sometimes their are guidelines to follow and she needs to choose an appropriate outfit for certain situations.

This!
My grandson is 5 and my daughter was having the hardest time with him. Till she finally just let him wear what he was comfortable in. Just imagine how you would feel having to wear something you didnt like or the way it felt.
