Did your 2nd DC drop nap sooner than 1st DC?

My DD2 is 2 years 3 months and is over napping! That seems way too young. It's been like this off and on for the last couple of months, but for the past few weeks, I can count on one hand how many times she's napped. I try every day. If she naps, she falls asleep after almost an hour of playing and calling me in crib. I've tried making the nap later (she currently goes in a 1 pm), but she won't nap either. She isn't terribly cranky, but I can tell she's tired. When she skips it, I usually move up her bedtime to 7-7:30, from her usual 8:30-9. She used to nap for 2.5-3 hours (1-4), but I'd take just an hour or two. Last night she conked out at 6 pm and slept until 7 am. Clearly, she needs the sleep, but I can't get her to nap! She knows DD1 (5) is up and that's part of the problem.

Today, we had an active morning--play date at library and playground and pizza lunch. I was home before 1 and got her settled in room and read her a couple stories. Then she was in her crib for over an hour singing, playing, and then calling for me. I finally gave in and took her downstairs.

Just a phase or could she really be done? DD1 didn't start doing this till closer to 3 years old.

Yes. DS # 1 stopped napping around 2 1/2... DS # 2 stopped when DD was born.. he was JUST over 2

Too much excitement... who wants to sleep? LOL

My first dropped her nap at 2yrs 3mo. She didn't want to nap and it was causing her bedtime to get later and later so I stopped trying to get her to nap. It took a few months for her to really get used to being up all day and not getting cranky etc, but eventually she was good with it. She's 3 1/2 now and will occasionally nap in the car or on the couch for 30 mins or so.

Funny that it's the exact same age. I will say, it does make for an easier, much earlier bedtime. But I do wish she'd take a little downtime in the afternoon.

Thanks for the responses!
