anxiety/guilt kicking in - vaca

I still have 2months (my dd will be almost 8 months by then), when I go to Mexico for my bffs wedding. It's a very short trip (2 nights; 3 long days).. but I can't help being worried. Not worried about her care. She'll be with my parents and my in laws who watch her each week.

I'm more worried that she'll notice we're gone and be sad/homesick for us/etc.

Obviously I'll miss her, but I think I'm more worried about her being sad.

Will it even affect her? Is it like puppies, where they don't know it's so long?

i had to leave my daughter for a business trip when she was 6 months old, and my son when he was 8 months old...it is harder for us than it is for them!
At least at that age...as they get older, they do realize it more and it is harder.
go and enjoy!

Believe me she is going to be one very spoiled granddaughter from the grandparents. I trust both my IL's and parents 100% and know they'll be fine. They won't let that child cry for a second. Chat Icon
It's just a couple of days so enjoy. I know it's easier said than done and I am telling you at this age it's even easier. Baby won't even remember. I think the hardest will be the down time on the airplane when you can't call. As soon as you land give them a call and then go and have a drink with DH and enjoy!!

Honestly, she's not going to care that you're gone. Chat Icon Chat Icon
It's 100x more difficult for us than for them. DH and I go away at least once a year since my boys have been babies, sometimes a long weekend, sometimes as long as a week.
They stay with my parents and it's like vacation from Mom & Dad and 'regular life' and the rules etc.
My little one will occassionally ask for me when it's bedtime, but never to the point that he's upset -

Have a great time!

She'll be fine. I thought my 22 month old DS would be devastated when I went away since he's so attached to nursing....Nope! My DH said he was fine.

It'll be harder on you than her. Believe me. I had to be away from DD1 at 17.5 months for 3-4 days while having DD2. She didn't even notice lol. Even now that I've been in the hospital with DD2 and there are days we can't even FaceTime, she couldn't care less lol. She's too busy having fun and being spoiled.

We went to aruba for a week when DS was 8 months. He did great, we did great. i cried on the way to the airport and at the gate until Dh started feeding me bloody mary's. but once we got there, i missed him so much, but we really relaxed and enjoyed each other. we facetimed everyday!

I almost cancelled the week before and we were so happy that we didn't. Chat Icon
