Washer/Dryer best Company
We are in the market for a new washer and dryer…. Thinking front loader because have heard it is gentler on clothes. Don't even know where to start as far as best brands or best prices. Any advice would be appreciated, specific models, etc. Don't want to spend too much but want to buy quality. Thinking of a budget of 2000-2500 for both? Does that sound about right?

We just got one but it was more than that, but we got and LG. We got the best price from a small local store but it isn't on LI. We got the front loader and the little mini washing machine underneath. So far we love it - it can wash a lot at once and has lots of different cycle options.

I have a top loader Whirlpool Cabrio set. I prefer the top loaders over the front loader - less maintenance. I never have to worry about leaving the door open so the gasket dries out, etc. There's no center agitator so it functions just like a front loader and is just as efficient.

We have this type too except they are Maytag Bravos.

This exactly, and they are wonderful! I have 4 kids and I can do all 4 beds (including comforters) in just 2 loads! It's wonderful!

Re: Washer/Dryer best Company
I would steer clear from front loaders. My brother is the store manager at Lowes, but he worked in Appliances for 6 years as the Manager there. He said they constantly had complaints and issues up the wazoo with front loaders. They are known to leak, but worse, because of the way they are designed, they breed mold in the door. They have to be cleaned often to rid the mold smell. Also, once you load the clothes, you cant stop the cycle to add anything you forgot (something I do all the time).
We got the Kenmore Elite top loader and matching dryer when we moved in to our new house. We love it. Its very similar to the Maytag Bravo, which my SIL has and we used when we lived with her for 4 months, but we like the Kenmore better. We found with the Maytag that it got off-kilter very frequently and would stop mid-cycle. We haven't had that problem with the Kenmore. But really, we liked both brands and I would say you cant go wrong with either. They're both rated very high on Consumer Reports.

I have a Samsung front loader and it has a Pause button to pause the cycle to add clothes. I do it all the time.

Same here. My Maytag had it as well before it broke.
I would still go with a top loader if I had a choice though (we have ours stacked in a closet though so we have to go with front loaders).

This is what we have and they are the best! I can wash and dry so many clothes at once.

I leave the door open when not in use and I never have a problem with mold.
I have an LG and while I dont love the machine, I can pause and add items at any time I want.
