Disney - DVC Point Rentals
Anyone have any insight into renting DVC points? For the same money it will cost us to stay at a moderate, we can rent points and stay at a deluxe resort, so we are leaning that way...any feedback, good or bad??

Re: Disney - DVC Point Rentals
Thats how we usually do disney unless i get a great deal on jetbluegetaways.com. I go through private owners though not through sites. I have the same person i always rent through and never any issues. For the price i would pay for a value through disney i can stay deluxe renting points through dvc. You still get magic bands, use of magical express, EMH, and use of disney transport. You can add on the dining plan too. Just remember that its not cancellable and also if disney is running promos like free dining youre not eligible. Also you dont get daily mousekeeping but they do come on day 4 for towel service and to change out your garbage cans.

Re: Disney - DVC Point Rentals
We have done that twice. This past trip I bought a dedicated reservation for our dates on ebay. We had a one bedroom, it was GREAT! So spacious, ,and having that washer and dryer was so nice and really cut down on the packing. We stayed at Saratoga Springs, and the bus service was horrible...but that's typical Disney IMO. Aside from that, we enjoyed it....and it was exactly $1 less than what I would've paid at the moderate resort (that I cancelled).

Re: Disney - DVC Point Rentals
I rented points once for a stay at Bay Lake Tower. It was a great experience. I rented through a private owner I found on Mouseowners.net. From my research a lot of people use David's Vacation Club Rentals.
You can't beat the pricing but there is a drawback. You cannot cancel. So your dates must be firm. I took out trip insurance just to be on the safe side.

Re: Disney - DVC Point Rentals
I don't have insight into renting points as my parents are DVC members, but staying at a DVC site is great. The washer/dryer is a perk, and we have food delivered from garden grocers and save tons and tons of money eating breakfast in the room most days and bringing our own water and snacks to the park. Not to say we don't also buy these things, but it really helps to cut back! And I love being able to make endless pots of coffee to get going in the morning/unwind at night!
Just be aware that there is no daily housekeeping service.

Re: Disney - DVC Point Rentals
Thanks everyone! We will definitely be doing this in the future! We decided to book a regular package this time because we couldn't get exactly the unit we were hoping for with such short notice (school calendar came out last week and we decided to go for a short trip!).

Re: Disney - DVC Point Rentals
I have done it 3X, this May will be my 4th. I use Davids Vacation Club Rentals. I can't see doing it any other way....we get to stay at a Deluxe Hotel, 1 bedroom with a full kitchen, washer/dryer for almost 1/2 the cost as going through Disney.
